Events:
- The planets of a distant star system align in such a way that their sun is transformed into a sphere composed of an unknown material, housing the consciousness of the Ultimate Evil. When Starfleet's attempts to destroy the Evil using conventional methods fail horribly, the Mondoshawans return to Earth with the Fifth Element. When their ship is shot down by Mangalore mercenaries, rescue teams recover the remains of the Fifth Element and reconstruct it in a lab on Earth in the form of a humanoid female named Leeloo. Leeloo escapes and enlists the aid of war hero-turned-cabbie Korben Dallas and priest Vito Cornelius to acquire the elemental stones from the diva Plava Laguna. Despite further interference by the Mangalores and their employer, the arms dealer Jean-Baptiste Zorg, Leeloo and company recover the stones and manage to activate the Ultimate Weapon, stopping the Ultimate Evil mere seconds before it collides with Earth.

Crow attempts to use intelligent Nanites to repair the ship. Mike accidentally helps some Bomb Mutants destroy Soror. Pearl and a gorilla named Professor Bobo escape in a starship that Pearl built out of a VW bus and named the Widowmaker. They pursue Mike and the Bots to the planet of the Observers, a race of powerful psychics. Mike accidentally destroys the Observers' world, and a surviving Observer joins Pearl and Bobo in their pursuit. After Mike accidentally destroys a third, unnamed planet, the Satellite of Love and the Widowmaker are sucked into a wormhole. (203)
