I was looking through some old comics when I thought of a new game. I call it Three of a Kind. Here's my first entry.

Well, let's see.

  • When Lightning Lad first "returned", it was really his sister, Lightning Lass, in disguise.
  • The Unknown Legionnaire turned out to be Supergirl in disguise (and with amnesia, I think).
  • I've never actually read Adventure #384, but I think I've seen a plot summary somewhere which revealed that Volar was a girl in disguise because her sexist society did not believe a woman could be a hero.

So, three stories of girls disguised as boys.  No idea about Slaughterman, though!

That’s what I was going for.

The cover to Slaughterman is deceiving in that the big reveal in the story is that the woman, Morgan, who he is carrying on the cover, is really the one wearing the Slaughterman armor in the story.  He was the original Slaughterman and her husband.  He was killed by the villain, Denwald.  She was left for dead and came back to seek revenge.  Of course, Denwald thinks that HE has returned.  So another story where a woman is masquerading as a male hero.

Good one, Peter!

Doom, DOOM, DOOM!

I realize my last post of 3 Dooms wasn't strictly in the spirit of the game. More 3 of the same rather than 3 of a kind! So I've tried harder this time.

Method: That's three evil brothers. Good one.

I've been unavailable the past few weeks but I have some ideas for more that I will post later.

Hoyer this time.

Peter: I love those eraser covers. The Giant-Man cover is a personal favorite. I had never seen the one with Captain Marvel before.

Hoy, thanks for the kind words.  I stumbled upon the Captain Marvel cover by accident while browsing the GCD.  It reminded me of the Batman cover, so I went hunting for a third.  Thanks, too, for explaining Method's three.  I had been wondering, and hoping someone would give the answer before I had to admit my ignorance!

I apologise in advance.  This is another "three the same", but I couldn't resist it.  What has Superman got against desks?  Does he get kickbacks from an office furniture supplier?

There's even a bonus appearance of the trope when Perry White apparently starts thinking that he is Superman.  Clearly, this behaviour is a well-known thing in the Daily Planet newsroom!

This discussion has gone rather quiet!

Here's a three of a kind that I'm quite pleased with.
