I thought a thread of this kind might help out our new members. If anyone has a question, just ask away.

When you're writing a post, you can make the html tags in it visible by pressing the 'html' button (the rightmost one above the reply box). This is particularly helpful if you want to put a "reply" quote at the start of your post. When you press the "reply" button immediately below a post you want to respond to, the board brings up a box with the post's text in a blockquote (at the bottom of the box). If you bring up the html, you can place your own text after the quote by placing it after the /blockquote instruction.

I sometimes write my posts in Word and then transfer them across. This can result in unwanted formatting effects, so when I do this, I switch to html format and cut out the chaff I don't want.

I'm not having those issues today, but there have been occasions when I've seen that exact problem. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when those things surface.

I usually use Brave (which is based on Chrome but has blockers for ads and trackers built in) and occasionally use Firefox.

I just opened up Edge -- also based on Chrome, I believe -- and am having the same problem. I'm sure it'll go away eventually. But until then, I probably won't be italicizing or bolding things in my posts as usual, and I probably can't go back to edit, either. (Much to my chagrin when I saw I'd used the wrong "its/it's" in a previous post.)

I use Chrome and everything seems to be working.

I've noticed that sometimes it's necessary (who knows why?) to restart computers. Just like us, computers get confused.

Ha, good point! I haven't tried that yet. Thanks!
...and restarting didn't help. Oh, well... it'll probably take care of itself.

I think sometimes a clean shutdown works better at getting rid of problems, followed by a clean start-up. I've formed the impression that the restart option seems to not always changed anything. (A feature, not a bug?)

I've done a full restart. I've signed in and out. I've cleared my cookies. So far, nothing's worked. Sigh.

Are you using a pc of your phone?

The other suggestion is to try a different browser. Opera and Firefox are both decent alternatives.

Also, I would avoid using any Microsoft browser for anything.

I'm using my PC, but have a similar problem on my phone (but not as pronounced). I just downloaded Opera to give it a try...and there's the same problem. Same with Microsoft Edge, but that's based on Chrome, so I expected as much.

Have you restarted your modem and/or router?

Hmm. Give Firefox a try (I think Opera may be based on the same platform as Chrome). I'm not sure about Safari, but give that a go as well.

I don't know if you're using any other forum based sites, but are you having similar issues elsewhere? Verify your user settings for this site. If you're experiencing the same issues with different browsers, it could be the settings got changed somehow.

Please tell me how I can get totally removed from this website. That's a tip I can use!
