Well, it's still going on in the pages of X-Factor. And it was more "surprise ending" than "shocking revelation." But I'll let you decide how it's working.

Issue #39: Madrox and Siryn's baby is revealed to be an infant Madrox duplicate; he re-absorbs it as soon as it's born, and she declares she'll kill Madrox the next time she sees him.
Issue #40: Layla Miller, believed to be stranded in the future, shows up, and she's all grown up.
Issue #41: In the future, Madrox and Layla are recruited by Ruby Summers (I don't actually know who she is, but I understand she's relevant to some set-in-the-future stories).
Issue #42: Cyclops is still alive in the far future, and is leading the nascent Summers Rebellion (see above parenthetical).
Issue #43: Shatterstar returns, and he's mind-controlled by the mysterious villain.
Issue #44: Monet is taken over by said mysterious villain.
Issue #45: Rictor and Shatterstar are reunited, lock lips.
Issue #46: In the future, another member of the Summers Rebellion is revealed to be pre-time-travelling-and-becoming-a-villain Trevor Fitzroy.
Issue #47: Mysterious villain is revealed to be a Madrox duplicate.
Oh, OK, thanks, Alan. I couldn't recall whether that was actually happeneing, or just something I misremembered. I like the idea of a "Summers Rebellion". Ideally, they should be fighting a group called "Winters".

Issue #48: Um...yeah, nothing really, kinda, it's sorta tough to explain?
And that's where we're at.
Oh, and also, in the future, Madrox and Layla are working with a very old, very senile Doctor Doom to try to get back to the present.
