Hey, all!

CBG is doing a cover story on the top 10 comics stories of 2010. What do you think they are? No need to come up with 10 -- just the one or ones you thought were biggest. The more opinions, the merrier!

EDITED: Lumbering Jack raised a good question. Best comics INDUSTRY stories, not the stories within the books themselves.

  • The recent price rollback has to rate high.

And 2010 is when all the major companies got into the digital game -- I can't think of a bigger story than that.

DC's restructuring is another big one -- and maybe as a subset of that, the DC characters returning fro Vertigo (a parallel fictional restructuring).
  • Wait ... are you asking comic-industry news stories or the greatest stories told in comics for 2010?
  • Oh, yeah -- I guess that could make a difference, couldn't it?

    bang head
  • Whoops! Comics INDUSTRY stories. Original post edited to fix.
  • Was Disney's purchase of Marvel this year or last year?

Just at the end of 2009.
  • The explosion of Archie Comics coverage in the mainstream press with the Kevin Keller, Archie gets married to Veronica/Betty, and Obama/Palin storylines.
  • For me:
    1. Price rollbacks
    2. Zuda and Wildstorm going bye-bye
    3. Maybe just tangential, but all of the talk and discussion as to why Scott Pilgrim failed at the theaters.
  • I agree, Doc -- Archie has quietly been remaking itself for a little while now, and this year it really came to the fore.
  • Didn't DC also kill the Johnny DC line? If so, that should be added to Travis' list.

And I do think that Travis is right on about No. 3. Everyone in the two industries -- movies & publishing -- expected Scott Pilgrim to be big. What did happen?

I think the Disney-Marvel union should make the list. Even if it was announced in 2009, I think it was 2010 before it was official. Will the Tron movie adaptation be the first real Disney-Marvel synergy comic since the acquisition?
