Interesting. Not what I was expecting.

WE'LL BE TOGETHER AGAIN

No tears

No fears

Remember there's always tomorrow

So what if we have to part

We'll be together again

Your kiss

Your smile

Are memories I'll treasure forever

So try thinking with your heart

We'll be together again

Times when I know you'll be lonesome

Times when I know you'll be sad

Don't let temptation surround you

Don't let the blues make you bad

Some day

Some way

We both have a lifetime before us

For parting is never goodbye

We'll be together again.

Oddly, I've never heard that.

I've never even heard of it.

("Vampire State Building." I'll bet someone stayed up all night thinking up that one.)

It's on this:

Now what's really odd is that I not only have that CD, but I listened to it just a few weeks ago.

I GET ALONG WITHOUT YOU VERY WELL

[I am feeling indecisive today, but there are versions by cget baker, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, diana Krall, Nina Simone, Carly Simon and others. Just pick one if you want to hear it. They're all good.]

I get along without you very well
Of course I do
Except when soft rains fall
And drip from leaves, then I recall
The thrill of being sheltered in you arms
Of course I do
But I get along without you very well

I've forgotten you just like I should
Of course I have
Except to hear your name or someone's laugh
That is the same
But I've forgotten you just like I should

What a guy, what a fool am I
To think my breaking heart could kid the moon
What's in store, should I phone once more?
No, it's best that I stick to my tune

I get along without you very well
Of course I do
Except perhaps in spring, but I should
Never think of spring
For that would surely break my heart in two

SOMEDAY (AUGUST 29, 1968)

[The recording of the chant (“The whole world’s watching”) is taken from the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Black militants begin their march (“God give us the blood to keep going”) as armed riot police attempt to disperse the crowd.]

Would you look around you now

And tell me what you see

Faces full of hate and fear

Faces full of me

Do you feel the rumblings

As your head comes crumbling down

Do you know what I mean?

Run, you better, run you know

The End is getting near

Feel the wind of something hot

Come whistling past your ear

As they try to get you

Where it will upset you

Down

Now you know what I mean

Someday you will see how long

We've waited for the time

To show you how we've died

To get together with you all

Twist and turn your head around

'Till everything's unclear

Twist and turn your arm around

Until it is not there

And they'd love to burn you

Or at least to turn you around

Now you know what I mean

Can you look around you now

And tell us what's to be

Can you look inside yourself

And tell us what you see

As you feel the rumblings

As your head comes crumbling down

And you know what I mean

Someday you will see how long

We've been waiting for the time

To show you how we've died

To get together with you all

ALL THE YEARS

You ask me what I think,

I tell you you ignore it.

The reasons for it make me crazy.

You ask me what is right,

Huh, you never hear it.

You're never nowhere near it baby.

I spent my life believing,

It would not end this way.

All the Years we wasted

All the Years we tried

All the restless hours

All the times we cried.

You ask me what I want,

I got no answer.

I know I'm only dancing faster.

So now we're stuck with us,

With you and all your stories.

Who's the fool and who'd the liar?

I spent my life believing

It would not end this way.

All the years we gambled.

All the years you lied.

All the hopeless dreamers.

All the dreams that died.

All the Years we wasted

All the Years we tried

All the restless hours

All the times we cried.

REVOLUTION I

(This is the White Album version, not the single version)

You say you want a revolution

Well, you know

We all want to change the world

You tell me that it's evolution

Well, you know

We all want to change the world

But when you talk about destruction

Don't you know that you can count me out

Don't you know it's gonna be

All right, all right, all right

You say you got a real solution

Well, you know

We'd all love to see the plan

You ask me for a contribution

Well, you know

We're doing what we can

But if you want money for people with minds that hate

All I can tell is brother you have to wait

Don't you know it's gonna be

All right, all right, all right

You say you'll change the Constitution

Well, you know

We all want to change your head

You tell me it's the institution

Well, you know

You better free you mind instead

But if you go carrying pictures of chairman Mao

You ain't going to make it with anyone anyhow

Don't you know it's gonna be

All right, all right, all right

All right, all right, all right

All right, all right, all right

All right, all right
