I'm reading it, and I loved the first issue. The soon-to-be Legionaires have personality, and I like the initial crew we're focusing on. I love the look of the future, and how each planet we see is distinct; I can't imagine a better artist for the series than Hayden Sherman. I think the mystery hook is a good one, and in particular I love the pairing of Brainy and Tenzil.
I bought a Gun Street Girl collection some time ago, and finally started reading it. I'm rather enjoying it. Barb Lein-Cooper and Ryan Howe have crafted several short (thus far) stories with a surprisingly relateable and very engaging duo. An older male magician and a tough lesbian hired gun take on various menaces. In the most recent story, our heroine's gf reveals that she has supernatural powers, but ones that she cannot really control.
"Buffy crossed with Tank Girl and Constantine in a hardboiled detective movie made by Hammer Studios" isn't quite right, but it's close. Lots of bizarre adversaries, Britishisms, quip-filled dialogue, and heavy alcohol consumption. What's not to like?

LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES ARCHIVES v9 (reprinting LSH stories from Adventure Comics #377-380 & Action Comics #378-392):
DC wanted a new Supergirl series, but Mort Weisinger didn't want to increase his workload. His solution was to switch the Legion's series in Adventure Comics with Supergirl's back-up feature in Action Comics. That way, everyone was happy... except perhaps LSH fans. This volume also sees the changeover from Jim Shooter to Cary Bates. v9 has nine stories written by Shooter, seven by E. Nelson Bridwell, and two by Bates (although not necessarily in that order).
I'm pretty sure this is the volume that overlaps with the Zap Goes the Legion DC Finest.
Those Action Comics shorts were wild! Focusing on just a couple of characters, and sometimes a little grittier than other Legion stories. Wasn't Matter-Eater Lad's dad a gambling addict?
I got the trade of Batman the Long Halloween: The Last Halloween but before I read it, I thought I should reread The Long Halloween which I remember some of and Dark Victory which I don't remember!
I am wondering if you guys would be interested in a Long Halloween discussion after Labor Day and if I should include Batman : Year One? Thoughts?

It has been a long time since I read the Long Halloween, but the connections to Year One, as I recall, might be worth considering along with the main text.

The backstory of this indie is here.
That sounds amazing, JD. Besides the description -- which is ENTIRELY in my wheelhouse! -- any book named after a Tom Waits song is a book I can love.
Barb Lein-Cooper discusses that in one of the info bits at the back of the collection.
