I finished up Howard Chakin's 1986 The Shadow mini (issues 2-4). It definitely has that '80s feel to it, and I liked the update to bringing the Shadow to the modern times. I still prefer to read his stories set in the '30s, but this was a nice change of pace. Giving him two Uzis over the two .45s didn't work for me though.

Last night, I read Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men Exodus and X-Men Legacy Annual 1. I really liked the Legacy Annual.

Pluto vol. 3 - Astro Boy's (here called Atom) sister finds a homeless robot who can create art and finds that she can shed real tears. The anti-robot clan continues to plan the fall of the robot police detective. This is a multi-layered mystery story loosely based on the original Astro Boy manga that is well worth picking up.

Savage Sword of Conan vol. 1 (the big Dark Horse Essential-type book) - I'm sorry I've bad-mouthed Roy Thomas in the past, because his stories here are tons and tons of fun. Barry Smith and John Buscema never had a better time and it shows on every page. I'm not that familiar with the Conan timeline, so sometimes the shift in where and who he is from story to story can kind of throw me, but never enough to limit the enjoyment. I know Conan was extremely popular in the 70s in his comic and black-and-white magazine and now I see where the Wolverine fandom came from...Conan is Logan's father.

Yeah, I'm on vol. 5 of Pluto, myself. At some point, I'll have to drag my Astro Boy books out of storage and re-read the original story.

Started re-reading Gail Simone's huge Birds of Prey run; it begins with #56 and I'm up to #75, where the Birds leave Gotham in the aftermath of (ugh) War Games, and Lady Blackhawk joins the team. This was my first exposure to Gail's writing and this run made me a huge fan. Ed Benes does the majority of the artwork and Greg Land does several covers, so as you may expect the art leans towards cheesecake-y.

Last night I read Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight #12-15, Captain Britain Weekly #4-7 and a bit of Masterpiece Comics.

Half of Criminal Vol. 1: Coward. I had been meaning to read this, and finally gave up on the library buying it. So far it's definitely been worth the wait. Also Book One of Deadman: Exorcism, the second Mature Readers Deadman story from Mike Baron & Kelley Jones. This one really piles on the spooky, with a dramatic appearance of the Mysterious Stranger at the end.

Finished these. Criminal really took a bad turn at the end. Even though I should have expected something like that from a noir story, it was still shocking and exciting to read. Looking forward to more of the series; I've already got the second trade.
