I'm with you on three out of four, Rob. I'd pick "I Saw The Light" for Todd Rundgren, but that's horse races for ya.
Songs you wouldn't know are their greatest:

After the Fire (ATF): "Sometimes"
Katrina and the Waves: "Do You Want Crying"
Icicleworks: "Understanding Jane"
Jimmy Harnen: "Little Nikki"
The Stray Cats "Give It to Me"
Buggles: "Clean, Clean"
That loudmouth from P.I.L.: "World Destruction"
And even though I hate most 1960's rock, here are my choices re: the original list (sure to annoy actual fans of said bands):

Rolling Stones: Start Me Up
Beatles: Maxwell's Silver Hammer
Pink Floyd: When the Tigers Broke Free
Michael Jackson: Billie Jean or Wanna be Startin' Something
ZZ Top: Not sure, but it would be before Eliminator
Devo - Fountain of Filth (probably their catchiest song ever)
The Knack: [not applicable]
The Who: Baba O'Reilly
Yup, Afrikaa Bambataa and Johnny (Rotten) Lydon teamed up on that one. I wouldn't say it's Lydon's shining moment musically, but it's a very good song.

"Do You Want Crying" is another song that should have been a hit record, but wasn't.

Let's see ... a few more ...

The Temptations -- "Papa Was a Rolling Stone"
The Kinks -- "All Day and All of the Night"
Led Zeppelin -- "Kashmir"
The Supremes -- "Love Child"
The Supremes without Diana Ross -- "Up the Ladder to the Roof"
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles -- "Shop Around"
The Miracles without Smokey Robinson -- "Love Machine"
The Commodores -- "Brick House"
The Commodores without Lionel Ritchie -- "Nightshift"
The Jacksons -- "Can You Feel It?"
The Jacksons without Michael -- Who cares?

The Kingsmen. Snoopy vs. the Red Baron.

But seriously, how about Bob Segar, Night Moves?

Airborne Toxic Event. Sometime Around Midnight.

Arcade Fire. Keep the Car Running.

Ringo Starr. Photograph.

Def Leppard. Photograph.

The Ramones. I Wanna Be Sedated.

Simon and Garfunkel. Homeward Bound.

Benny Goodman. Sing Sing Sing. Pt.1.

OK, I'm having too much fun with this now.
