Not in pre-Crisis WW, as far as I can recall, but I don't have a memory like the Commander for this sort of detail.
Sounds to me like a product of Bob Haney's non-canonical creativity.

The Amazon Guardian Angel actually saves Diana's life! Maybe Haney wanted a super-powerful person in the story as Diana was in her Jumpsuit phase. Or since it was Wonder Woman, he wanted an Amazon presence.

A quick look through my scans tells me that Batman and the non-powered Wonder Woman teamed up at least twice and both times Diana was in peril on the cover. Later when she got her powers back and they teamed up in Brave and the Bold 131 1976 they were both in peril but she was fighting back and later they were both scared. So while she was in depowered mode she was sort of a damsel in distress for the covers and while she had her powers she was more of an equal partner?

The non-powered Wonder Woman was a damsel in distress? That explains why Gloria Steinem pushed so hard for Diana to get her powers back. I vaguely remember seeing reprints of Wonder Woman during her Diana Rigg period and wondering why she didn't look anything like that in her own comic. She lost her powers before my time so that white suit was the first I saw of her.
