"I agree that the publishing schedule is problematic, and would be for just about anything. I had frankly forgotten the title was still active. But I was pleasantly surprised by how quickly I got back up to speed. It does help that the collection has…"

"I think I'll be moving away from the quarterly double-sized books and onto the collections at this point. I read the most recent one, and found I had very little emotional connection to anything that was happening in the story. Rucka &…"

"I've been watching the Netflix series You. It's about an oddly attractive psychopath, and I find myself into Season 2. I enjoyed the second season of Lost In Space, too."

Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod) replied to Captain Comics's discussion Any cord-cutters on the site?
"We use Sling and an antenna. We're happy overall. Sling's servers occasionally get overloaded--the New Year's Day Twilight Zone marathon was especially trying--but a lot of that seems dependent on how consistent your internet…"

Chris Ware's Building Stories

Building StoriesChris WarePantheon, 2012Reading Ware's Rusty Brown recently reminded me that I had never gotten around to Building Stories. Physically it's like the anti-library book: a box containing fourteen printed works in various sizes, shapes, and formats. Having worked in libraries for years, I can think of no way to safely circulate a copy of it, and would be…See More

Heroes Convention 2009

Posted on June 19, 2009 at 11:26pm 2 Comments

After a late start, spent almost seven hours at the convention. I attended one panel discussion: "The New Power Generation of Comics" with Brian Michael Bendis, Ivan Brandon, Ed Brubaker, Jonathan Hickman, and Matt Fraction. Matt Brady of Newsarama attempted to moderate, with limited success (at one point Fraction turned a question around and basically interviewed Brady instead of the other way around). These writers all know each other, and had a good time tossing the questions around,… Continue

Thanks, Mark. Just clearing up a question a friend made of me about the review of Don Quixote (I'm NOT that Rob Davis). This looks like a fun place, though I doubt I'll have much time to visit often.
