"I agree with you on just about everything (boring, I know). I generally prefer that slang be kept to a minimum in any time period--even if it's not tin-eared, it tends to date badly. I remember liking The Witch, so I guess the language…"

Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod) replied to The Baron's discussion Bendis To DC
"I liked all of those early crime stories: Goldfish, Jinx, and Torso. I know he's been dismissive of the indie path since then (I'm mainly thinking of the famous debate with Robert Kirkman). But he does call his website Jinxworld."

Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod) replied to Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod)'s discussion This Damned Band
"I'll admit I'm a sucker for comics with a musical theme: they don't come along very often. Since this one is also horror, it's a winner for me. If it were a DC comic I could imagine John Constantine making a cameo."

Captain Comics replied to Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod)'s discussion This Damned Band
"That's pretty interesting, Mark. I read the first issue when it came out and passed on the series, thinking it was something I wouldn't enjoy. But the stuff you mention that happens later in the series sounds pretty good. I'll give it…"

Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod) replied to Richard Willis's discussion The Inhumans on TV

Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod) replied to Captain Comics's discussion 'Gotham' Season 4

After a late start, spent almost seven hours at the convention. I attended one panel discussion: "The New Power Generation of Comics" with Brian Michael Bendis, Ivan Brandon, Ed Brubaker, Jonathan Hickman, and Matt Fraction. Matt Brady of Newsarama attempted to moderate, with limited success (at one point Fraction turned a question around and basically interviewed Brady instead of the other way around). These writers all know each other, and had a good time tossing the questions around,… Continue

Thanks, Mark. Just clearing up a question a friend made of me about the review of Don Quixote (I'm NOT that Rob Davis). This looks like a fun place, though I doubt I'll have much time to visit often.
