The Low, Low Woods

The Low, Low Woods Carmen Maria Machado, writer; DaNi, artist; Tamra Bonvillain, coloristDC Black Label, 2020This entry in Joe Hill's Hill House Comics is a strange one. It takes place in a hellscape called Shudder-to-Think, Pennsylvania. The coal mines have been burning underground, calling the setting of the Silent Hill movies to mind. Richard Willis replied to Mark Sullivan (Vertiginous Mod)'s discussion Slaughterhouse-Five, or the Children's Crusade
"I also thought that the movie was a good adaptation. My only quibble was that they had the Tralfamadorians invisible/other dimensional. The book describes them as looking like "plumber's friends.""

"I've read the book and seen the movie; IMHO this is a very good adaption.  Captured the black humor of the original and is true to the non-linear flow of the storyline without making it confusing. Most importantly, I enjoyed it!"

Heroes Convention 2009

Posted on June 19, 2009 at 11:26pm 2 Comments

After a late start, spent almost seven hours at the convention. Thanks, Mark. Just clearing up a question a friend made of me about the review of Don Quixote (I'm NOT that Rob Davis). This looks like a fun place, though I doubt I'll have much time to visit often.
