Outsiders has had 5 reboots/ new directions in 4 years, and judging by the most recent one's (written by Didio) major shedding of subscribers here, should be canceled soon. But I doubt it will be.

Check out the Secret Headquarters (my store) website! It's a pretty lame website, but I did it myself, so tough noogies

Listen to WOXY.com, it's the future of rock-n-roll!

According to John Jackson Miller's Comichron site, Outsiders #23 sold an estimated 21,400 in its month of issue, #24 an estimated 50,894 (due to the ring promotion, with another 4,786 the next month), and #25 an estimated 37,847. So the sales on the latest issue he has figures for look OK, but the title could still be in cancellation territory soon.

Didn't he shepherd the Wildstorm heroes from being the breakout successes of the late 90s to being the nonentities they now are? Chris has ruminated on their decline and fall several times in his blog.

Not really, he has had a reduced role in the editorial at Wildstorm since he sold it back in 1998. He has the title of editorial director, and that seems to be mainly toward mentoring up and coming artists. If you want to give him blame for the fall then he should also get credit for the rise. Authority, Planetary, Alan Moore's America's Best Comics imprint.

Not to say I am sold on his new position, for all of them it will be a wait and see attitude from me.

Look for Outsiders #27 (Didio's second issue) to be at under-20K.

What did he do in the first one?

Bad characterization, writer's fiats, poor dialog, story elements that make no sense...

The art was also far too muddy and dark.

When it comes to Outsiders, "bad characterization, writer's fiats, poor dialog, story elements that make no sense..." has been my general reaction for years. Outside of the original MIke Barr run, it's never been one of my favorites.

I enjoyed most of the previous, "Batman's dead and we have this stuff he wants you to do" run.
