On this day 10 years ago, I was in an accident that totaled my car. I am grateful today for three things:

That I was in the car by myself; I doubt a passenger would have survived.

That I walked away from it whole; save for some pain in my side that lasted about a week, I was and remain physically sound.

That God saw fit to spare me, that I may carry on in this world and be the husband, father and person He wants me to be.

I am also grateful to have had these years as a member of this forum. We've been together through various locations in cyberspace, but I've always found it a warm and welcoming home.

And we're lucky to have you.  Doubly so given that first post...

Can I ask when you first posted on a Cap Comics board?  I started in '05, which doesn't seem like 6 years ago...

It was sometime circa 2000-2001. I stumbled upon the original site, which wasn't even a message board; back then, it was more like the letters page from a typical comic, with Cap responding to every individual post! Along the way, it moved to a bare-bones message board, which allowed posters to respond directly to other people's posts, and has moved three or four times since, as technology has improved and membership has grown and changed.

Wow.  I can hardly even imagine what that would be like!  I presume it was based around each new article as Cap put them up?  The way blogs are today?

Yeah, like that. It was far too much for him to keep up with, what with him writing his weekly column for Scripps Howard and what was then a weekly column for the Comics Buyers' Guide and a day job (which really had night hours) too ...

Well, I'm certainly not going to try to get into some kind of "one upmanship" competition with you Clark, but I have plenty of reasons to celebrate still being amongst the living myself, so congratulations!

Here's to still being alive!

It certainly beats the alternative! :-)

When something miraculous can happen every day, it makes every day a miracle!

Oddly enough I was just thinking how I "discovered" this forum about a year ago!

Good thing you're still around!  The board would never have been the same without you!  Keep sticking around, buddy!

I didn't know about your accident, Kelvin, because it pre-dated my time on the board. I'm glad to know you walked away from it; this community would have been a poorer place without you these last ten years. Some of you may remember my motorcycle accident, almost seven years ago now. I'm grateful I was wearing my helmet.

Well, I'm certainly glad you made it out okay, CK.
