The Best of M.J. and J.J.J.

Spider-Island has been a ton of fun.  It’s possibly my favorite story of the year.  I especially appreciate the story’s wit.  It’s even demonstrated in clever covers with J. Jonah Jameson and Mary Jane Watson displaying their newfound spider powers (Amazing Spider-Man 670 and 671).

Those images reminded me of some of my favorite covers from the past.  I also went ahead and looked up others.  So here, for your viewing pleasure, a dozen each of the best covers to feature Mary Jane Watson and J. Jonah Jameson:

  • That's the one.
  • Was the Spectacular Spider-Man #220 the issue where Mary Jane is revealed to be pregnant, or breaks the news to Peter that she is?  (Otherwise, what's the big news that she's got for you, tiger?)
  • Good call, George.  I left #58 off of the list because I thought it was too close to #25 and I was trying to avoid a redundancy.
  • I  have to agree with the spiderslayer cover.  Another one that always spoke to me was ASM #25.
  • You included all of the JJJ/MJ covers that sprung immediately to my mind (and left off the "infamous" Spec Spidey #174). The only one I might add is Spec Spidey #220:

  • Wow, you sure got a lot of favorite covers!   If I was gonna list mine, I guess I'd have gone with FF #39 "And a Blind man Shall Lead them..."   and #49 "The Coming of Galactus"  and X-men #173 with Scott and Maddie in the hand of Jason Wyngarden (Mastermind).  That's about it.  Oh, and Alpha Flight #13, with Logan comforting Heather.
  • I thought about including that one, Doc, but I decided to stick to the in-continuity titles.

    One of my faves...
