Ok, how about this for an idea. We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day. This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent. What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme. I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A". Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B". The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man". However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S". Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes. So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.
And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.
If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

Detective #31. A continued story(!) where we meet Julie Madison, Batman wears a gun and there are Vampires and Werewolves.
Captain Canuck appears on the cover of The Pitful Human-Lizard #1. The more recent incarnation later crossed over. This series has really developed its interesting, bizarre little superhero universe over the last dozen years:
One of maybe three or four All Star covers with Superman and Batman on it (and in it.)
This cover features Star and Stripe (sic), America's greatest hero in the MHA universe. An interesting look at a Japanese idea of an American patriotic hero.
One of the few "DC Salutes the Bicentennial" covers that actually does!
Stars and Stripes #2. A whole series devoted to flag-waving.
Okay. I hope everyone else's July has started off better than mine. In any event, tonight is my belated Canada Day cover and tomorrow I'll post a double header to play catch up. (Image courtesy of the Grand Comics Database.)
At the present time, the countries of the world are expressing their patriotism through soccer.... or, as most of the English-speaking world calls it, "football."* I intended to post this next one to coincide with next Canadian FIFA game,** but that's taking place on July 4, which really requires an American cover. So, for today:
*The American/Canadian sport gets called "handegg" by some other English-speaking types.
**A cause for some friendly family tension, given that one of my sisters-in-law grew up in Morocco.
Justice League #31 and Atom #31. Hawkman joins the JLA and he guest stars in Atom's book.
