Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

I apologize that this one is so small.  I came across it in one of my searches.  It is Empire Comics Bulletin #67 from 1991.  Empire Comics was a retailer in Rochester, NY.  I spent many happy comic book buying forays at its various stores over the years.  I also worked there briefly in the late 1970s when I was between jobs.  By 1991 I no longer lived in Rochester but I would still drop by when I was in town visiting.  Tomorrow I’ll post one of my favorite George Perez covers, which surprisingly to me hasn’t been posted yet.  I’ll also include a quote from George regarding an “error” on the cover.

Here's a pair of interconnecting variant covers for Boom! Studios' Planet of the Apes/Green Lantern mini-series.  Unusually, these two covers by George Perez and Jerry Ordway appear to have been issued as just the artwork.  They're without any of the normal text - no publisher, series name, title, issue number, date, or anything else.

This is the cover to the 1990 George Perez Portfolio.

While not covers per se, the 12 prints comprised mostly covers, plus a few original pieces.

Since we're very nearly at the end of the month, time for a reminder that, as indicated at the top of the page, the topics agreed for July and August are "Parents" and "Fairgrounds and Carnivals" respectively.  For later months, we had a brief discussion earlier on, in which I put forward "Classrooms" and Jeff suggested "First and Last Issues".  How would people feel about doing "Classrooms" in September to coincide with the new academic year, and following that with "First and Last Issues" in October?

On a somewhat separate topic, I notice that Steve W hasn't posted anything since this cover on June 11th.  I hope his silence is just because he's on holiday or otherwise busy, and that he'll soon be back, perhaps even to welcome in the new month.

Imagine Disney doing a movie with the Avengers, Carol Danvers and Doctor Strange fighting a parody of the Justice League!

Since we only have today and tomorrow left to honor George Perez, I'm gonna share some of what I have left. These may not be among his best works, but I personally like them. All courtesy of the Grand Comics Database.

You have to admire his attention to detail and continuity in this one, considering the background is composites of scenes from the multiverse.

Similarly the attention to detail with this one concerning all the individual Mardi Gras beads and so on, unless that's the work of the inker and/or colorist.

And finally, besides it being an odd team up to begin with, it's always a good time in my book when Lobo gets his comeuppance.

I don't think the parody would be as well received in a big-bucks movie as it was in comics.

I was exchanging messages with Steve on this website back at the end of March.

I just sent him a message asking if he is on holiday. I'll let everyone know when he answers.

Hi all. George Perez not really my subject. Have had a short break from the thread but missed it nonetheless. I'll be back Friday! Have loads of "Parents" covers stacked up, ready to go.

My last covers for June are an Infinity Gauntlet, a Marvel-Two-In-One and two Wonder Woman covers. The second Wonder Woman cover includes Hippolyta, bridging into our Parents month.

Good to know you are still here, Steve!  I must admit, your silence did have me a little worried.

Right, then.  A few final George Perez covers to finish the month, starting with another strong contender in the "most characters on a cover" category.

A bit more Sachs and Violens.

Happy holidays with Spidey and friends.
