Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

I'm totally up for that - August and covers featuring beaches.  What could be better than featuring beaches in the hottest month of the year!

Graves/tombstones/haunted houses sounds like a safe bet for October. If everyone's comfy with that, we'll go with it.

Okay, so that makes the schedule:

  • June - covers featuring a boxing ring (an early example of which is seen in Jeff's "#7 in a series")
  • July - covers featuring empty uniforms
  • August - covers featuring beaches
  • October - graves/tombstones/haunted houses

That leaves September undecided.  Other suggestions we've had, which could go in there, are:

  • Motor bikes
  • Apes
  • Two groups of heroes (or a group of heroes and a group of villains) lined up to fight each other

No rush.  We've still got three months to decide!

Here's a couple of times that Kid Colt was wanted that I don't think have been seen yet this month.

A wanted poster with a more contemporary (i.e. not the Old West) setting.

#8 in a series. One to go!

The only issue of Wanted with a non-white cover and the only Bronze Age reprint of Doctor Fate in his half-helmet!

Most readers wouldn't even know about it until All Star Squadron.

Not a "Missing" poster, a "Missing" news report.  Note the dateline of August 21, 2065 - TV21 comic was always dated a century ahead of the actual publication date!

Another "Wanted for Entertainment" poster from Archie comics.

The wanted poster was inside.

My last three for May
