Ok, how about this for an idea.  We take it in turns to post a favourite (British spelling) comic cover every day.  This went really well on the comic fan website that I used to frequent.  What we tried to do was find a theme or subject and follow that, until we all got bored with that theme.  I'd like to propose a theme of letters of the alphabet. So, for the remainder of October (only 5 days) and all of November, we post comic cover pictures associated with the letter "A".  Then in December, we post covers pertaining to the letter "B".  The association to the letter can be as tenuous as you want it to be. For example I could post a cover from "Adventure Comics" or "Amazing Spider Man".  However Spider Man covers can also be posted when we're on the letter "S".  Adventure Comic covers could also be posted when we're on the letter "L" if they depict the Legion of Super Heroes.  So, no real hard, fast rules - in fact the cleverer the interpretation of the letter, the better, as far as I'm concerned.

And it's not written in stone that we have to post a cover every day. There may be some days when no cover gets posted. There's nothing wrong with this, it just demonstrates that we all have lives to lead.

If everyone's in agreement I'd like to kick this off with one of my favourite Action Comic covers, from January 1967. Curt Swan really excelled himself here.

The cover says they're in a "Death Crypt" so that falls under cemetery, right?

Beyond Lee/Ditko being their creators, Spidey and Doc Strange should not make a good piring but they do! All their team-ups are enjoyable!

Ok, I guess I'm not paying enough attention to previous posts! My apologies - I can only put this down to age!

Here's a great haunted house - this place really does look haunted.  This is an early Steve Ditko - drawn in 1957.

Oh, come on, Steve.  Really, you're pulling our legs now, aren't you?

Summer seems to be well and truly gone 'round here, but I did find a couple of haunted house covers that throw back to August's theme:

Oh oh. Is my face red!   It's a great cover though, so deserves two postings (that's my excuse).

Two from Tales from the Crypt

I scoured second-hand shops and yard sales for comics, of course, but I loved getting those old Ripley's Believe It Or Not paperbacks and I watched the TV show every week!

Lobo never did do things by halves...

Given that the first Scrooge story had his nephew spending a night in a scary (if not exactly spooky) place, it seems appropriate McDuck should make an appearance:

It's just possible this story is also altogether ooky.

I'm hoping and praying that no-one's already posted this cover this month. Surely a tomb is the same as a grave.

I don't think this one's been posted yet

Here are two impressive wrap-round covers.

A haunted house from Justice League Dark (and no sign of Detective Chimp on this cover).

A graveyard from Alan Moore's Fashion Beast.

Some "haunted" Adventures of Bob Hope covers before the Monster Teachers/Super-Hip era. They harken back to Ol' Ski-Nose's glory days of The Cat and the Canary and The Ghost Breakers!
