    • I'll tell you my opinion... I personally find it easier to read when new comments are posted to the end of a conversation. That's the place I go first when looking for new comments. Then I'll skim the last page to see if any new posts above catch my eye, but beyond that, I don't go seeking individual new posts inserted above one at a time. I myself will sometimes insert a post, but only if it's something very specific. For example, I have been searching for days for a previous post to another discussion which I find germane to a specific post, but I haven't been able to find it yet. If I do, I will likely insert it.

    • Thanks, Jeff.

  • Whose idea was it to name Bucky Barnes after President James Buchanan?   -- Richard Willis

Re Bucky, reportedly he was really named after a friend of Simon's . . . Cap's Bucky is introduced in Captain America Comics #1 as "Bucky Barnes, mascot of the regiment". I don't know when the James Buchanan explanation was introduced.  -- Luke Blanchard

I can address that one, gentlemen.

The name "James Buchanan Barnes" was first ascribed to Bucky in Captain America # 252 (Dec., 1980), in a back-up feature titled "The Life and Times of Captain America", written by Roger Stern and rendered by John Byrne.

That being Bucky's full name was iterated in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe # 13 (Feb., 1984).

    Hope this helps.

    • Maybe he was named James after James Madison, and Buchanan because that was his father's name because a bet on the horse in the 1884 Kentucky Derby got his grandfather the dowry he needed to marry?
