I usually gauge the winter by how many times I am forced to wear my winter coat. This year? Not even once.
Same here. I’m not in the hottest part of California, but the beginning of Spring gave me two consecutive days of 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The good news: they weren’t humid.

You didn't go outside when it was 15 here and had snowed?

Ah, yes, I had forgotten about that. We didn't get any real snow here, though... just ice. And no, Tracy worked from home and we both stayed inside for that entire week... not because of the cold, because of the ice.

Our local “Mount Baldy” (officially Mount San Antonio, 10,064 feet high) managed to kill several over-confident hikers this winter. Ice hidden under snow was the killer. It was such a problem that they had to prohibit future hiking until things warmed up. Then it is rough on their friends and relatives because the bodies usually can’t be found for weeks.
I know that we don't get into politics here, but I just saw a story about a guy who got served papers while he was being interviewed on live TV., and I can't help wondering how the interviewer felt while all this was going on. Was he thinking, "Holy s**t, this interview just got a whole lot more interesting!"? Is something like that like a gift from God for a reporter? "Wow. A story just threw itself in my face. Didn't even have to do any extra work for it. Damn."

Ah, Spring!
We do that up here, but it plays a little differently, as in, "there were six days when I wasn't forced to wear a winter coat!"
