  • I've seen through episode 1219 now -- the missing episode, which is largely composed of stills and Lara Parker introducing audio clips that were recorded by a blind fan of the show. In these last few episodes, the show is leaning hard into soap opera again. While Gabriel has been driven murderously insane, he's left the house so everyone's pretty much forgotten about him. But Bramwell has asked Daphne to marry him to spite her sister Catherine, and Daphne's torn because everyone else hates the idea, including Bramwell's mom. And then they're married anyway, and Catherine has a fainting spell, but then, after being examined by a doctor, goes to see Bramwell... she's pregnant, with HIS BABY!

  • I've made my way through episode 1223 now. Bramwell says he'd send Daphne -- whom he'd been married to for less than a day -- to hell in order to be with Catherine, but she rejects him and says he must never speak of the baby to Morgan. But then she gets the short straw on the lottery, and will be spending the night in the Bad Room. However, once she gets there, she learns that Morgan has gone in before her and changed the locks, and only Quentin has the key, which he will not cough up. Morgan finds a secret door in the Bad Room and goes through.

The next day, Morgan's alive! However, he doesn't think he's Morgan anymore. Later, at Hallie's cottage, we learn that he thinks he's James Forsythe, who was there at the origin of the curse!

To be perfectly honest, I miss vampire shenanigans.

  • I've now seen through episode 1226. James is feuding with the ghost of Brutus over a skeleton in the basement. The love triangle between Daphne, Catherine, and Bramwell continues -- with Daphne standing up for herself a bit more. (Bramwell is insufferable and both sisters are better off without him.) Melanie and Kendrick are starting to become an item, even though Melanie dissociates every now and then and starts to think she's someone else. And Gabriel meets Flora in the garden, with a hidden knife in his hand.

  • I made it through episode 1230 by the end of November, so I'm still on track to wrap Dark Shadows in 2025. We (and Kendrick) learn that Melanie killed Stella during one of her dissociative episodes. He actually seems... okay with it? Understanding, at least. But also, Morgan has gone full-on James Forsythe, and the family does a seance with Hallie (and her dad, played by the long-missing Thayer David, yay!) to bring Forsythe's spirit out of Morgan's unconsious body (even thouygh a seance usually draws a spirit in). Forsythe has been trying to kill Constance, who he believes Julia to be; Catherine drugged him. Never take a drink from a Collins.

Forsythe, naturally, blames everything on Brutus, who's already popped up as a ghost, played by Louis Edmonds. Hopefully we'll see more of him before the show ends.

Anyhow, this is apparently Quentin's last episode, since David Selby got sick for a while. And could it also be the show's last seance?

    • We have started watching again. I plan to begin responding to your 1841PT posts beginning tomorrow (or perhaps Thursday).
