  • I actually like the look of that team! Interesting collection of heroes indeed! Captain Ultra? Century? Verrrrry interesting indeed!

(But let us remember that the Revengers really comprises of Megalith, Armor and Silver Streak.)

  • Maybe I've missed something, but Simon Williams suddenly becoming aggressively anti-Avenger hasn't been explained to my satisfaction. Not just because he used to be grateful to the Avengers for saving his life, but also because he's one of the most passive personalities in the Marvel Universe. (Also one of the whiniest.)

But, OK, accepting that as a given, this IS an interesting group. Each of them need an explanation, too, for why they A) want to take on the Avengers and B) think they can. Assuming that happens, it should be interesting.

  • Not these guys, huh?

Too bad. I was excited for a minute there.

  • When did Captain Eyesore get an update, is that new?
  • About time Marvel did something with Wonder Man!

But shouldn't he and Goliath IV be after Iron Man?

Atlas is the center for me here as he gained his powers the same way as Wonder Man and at one point was Goliath III.

I have very little knowledge on Century except that he was part of Force Works!

Ethan Edwards? Virtue? I thought that he was merely a Superman parody! They better be careful!

Captain Ultra has been a favorite of mine since "The Defenders For a Day!" three-parter and he has x-ray scanner vision as well!

Devil-Slayer and D-Man seem revamped too!

Anti-Venom.....are we ever going to be free of symbiotes?

  • *I'm* free of symbiotes -- I don't buy any of their books!
  • In all honesty, Venom is a good book starring a longtime Marvel character with real tension and drama!
  • So if this goes down as a superhero vs. superhero battle:

    • Wonder Man vs.Ms. Marvel
    • Goliath vs. Thing (former buds)
    • Anti-Venom vs. Spider-Man
    • Atlas vs. Cage (both formerly known as Power Man)
    • Ethan Edwards vs. Sentry or Thor
    • D-Man vs. Iron Fist (D was a former wrestler, so you got the Martial Arts thingy)
    • Century vs. Mockingbird (former WCA teammates)
    • Captain Ultra vs.Captain America (because, well, they're both Captains!)
    • Devil Slayer vs. Doctor Strange (Magic-type folks...)

... I think that's the current lineup for the Avengers. Anyway, who would win?

  • Just read Avengers Annual #1 for the rematch and aftermath. The Revengers' motivations are revealed and for most of them it IS for revenge. Captain Ultra and Atlas for being rejected: There are no Substitute Avengers; Virtue for the Skrull collapse (Secret Invasion), Goliath V for the killing of his uncle Goliath IV (Civil War--will it ever fade away?); Devil-Slayer, the chance to be important; Century, redemption and guilt; Anti-Venom (Eddie Brock), to be right for once and D-Man who is apparently insane!

But it's Simon Williams, Wonder Man that you feel for. He blames the Avengers for various catastrophes and deaths. He admits that they have done great deeds but now act above reproach. He may not even be real. He does not want to hurt anyone but in a poignant scene with the Beast, he accuses the Avengers of not listening and only wanting a fight to prove an argument. Again as seen in Civil War. In order for the world to correct itself, there can be no Avengers. And by holding him captive without a trial, charges or arrest, people are talking about their methods and practices. Shattered Heroes, indeed!
