  • About this time last year I read a great book called Moondust, about the men who walked on the moon and where life took them since. There's some very fine passages in it, and the astronauts involved come across as fascinating guys. There's some poignancy in that the rest of their lives could only be anti-climax after that. Neil Armstrong seems super-cool in his way.

    There's one section about one of them signing photos at a sci-fi convention and everyone there being more interested in tv space explorers rather than someone who'd actually been into space and set foot on another planet.

  • It was truly a magnificent achievement. I was pretty young but I still remember the sense of excitement, and later, the pride, that people around me were feeling.
