1. How is the Coronavirus situation where you live? What's closed down? Have you gone out much? Are you (Oh, what's the trendy term now " Self-distancing "?) staying inside as a precaution or actually infected or is anyone else you know? I hope, if so, you're well. Let's...well, exchange comments.
  2.   I am now in Portland, Oregon. The Govenor, and then, locally, Portland declared a state of emergency. I saw the comment made that Oregon was the furthest behind on dealing with CV of the 3 West Coast states.
  3.   I went out yesterday ( Sun.), I am ill and had sleep to make up to-day (Mon.) and ended up not going out - I may go out across the street to a all-nite grocery tonite-early Tues. I have not heard of a regular medical appointment Tues. being cancelled.

That's wonderfully sick!

That's my "COVID beard" peeking out underneath. (I trimmed the sides but kept the length.)

One thing I'll say about the pandemic: with all the good restaurants closed, I'm definitely losing some weight.

That's good. A lot of people are snacking and not getting exercise and are therefore gaining weight. My nephew (though he may not be the first to do so) has drawn an analogy with the "Freshman 15." The "Covid-19" are the pounds people are gaining during self-isolation.

Talk about a First World Problem!

Yeah, I think I was losing weight for the first week, and then settled in to bad snacking routines.

Restrictions are loosening up in Texas (prematurely, AFAIAC), but Tracy and I have decided to continue sheltering in place until the numbers start to go down rather than up (which they have been doing on a daily basis). We have decided that, if there's going to be a second wave* (and I think there will be), we don't want to have contributed to it in any way.

*If we can have a "second" wave when the first has not yet peaked.

Now I am working from home until June 1. The last email from the CEO stated any non-essential people were banned from the facility without prior permission. Also, we have to wear a mask out in public now.

This morning I received the unhappy news that my sister-in-law's mother has passed away from this terrible malady. She was in a nursing home suffering from dementia when she contracted the virus. There were others there with the disease.

Part of me hopes that she is in a happier place yet I still believe that the nursing homes are deemed as "acceptable losses" as they are neither allowed to transport those who test positive to the hospital nor allowed to move those who are negative to another facility. Combine this with the nursing homes, at least in NYC, NOT being truthful about fatalities (one said there were 13 but it was really 98!!), one cannot help but worry about the elderly!

My mom who is 81, is fine at home, thank God!

I'm so sorry to hear that, Philip. I hope your mom stays well and safe!

Thanks, Rob! I'm trying. I only go out about twice a week to shop as I am also high risk with my heart condition and diabetes but so far, so good!

My condolences, Phillip.

My son told me he has a buddy who works in a different department who's getting pressure from his supervisor to come into the office regularly. Companywide, the staff has been working from home, but this supervisor thinks it "looks bad" that his people aren't around. The supervisor has been coming in, and he wants his charges to come in too.

God save us from fools.
