OK, I'll be handling this one a little differently than some of the other TV series I've re-watched. I don't own every episode of this, and what I do own isn't in broadcast order, so I'll be watching them as I find them, and updating this initial post as to where they sit in the show's history.

Amusing, if not especially substantive.

Show 309: "The Amazing Colossal Man", first broadcast 8/3/1991
The Film: A Bert I.Gordon effort from 1957. One of of Bert I.'s better films, about a man who survives a nuclear test only to become a giant. this could almost be a prototype for the Hulk, in some ways. Music by the Murray Gold of the 1950's, Albert Glasser.
The Host Segments: Crow and Servo are hiding in their fort and won't come out. The Mads create a plant (Kevin Murphy) that reviews music. Joel and the Bots invent a non-permanent tattoo. Joel tries to teach the Bots how to speak to someone in a bad situation. It doesn't go well. Joel pretends to be Glen Manning, The actual Glen Manning (Mike Nelson) visits the SOL. Joel and the BOts read some letters.
Favorite Line: "How many fish can you name?"
Rating: A fairly good episode.

Show 319: "War of the Colossal Beast", first broadcast 11/30/1991
The Short: "Mr. B Natural" (1957) is probably the most (in)famous of the shorts used on "MST3K". It's an odd little film, in which the spirit of music tries to help a social misfit learn to socialize through music. Personally, I've never understood this business of casting women as "male" characters. I just don't get it.
The Film: From 1958, a serviceable sequel to the previous picture. Not great, but not as bad as all that.
The Host Segments: Joel and the Bots create names for new Mexican foods. Dr F. invents the Breakfast Bazooka. Joel and the Bots invent the Between Meal Mortar. Crow and Servo debate whether Mr. B Natural was male or female. Joel wears a big head. Glenn (Mike) visits the SOL again. Joel and James Unguentine KTLA and makes odd predictions. Joel feeds bread to the Bots. Joel and Glenn read letters. Dr. F shoots thorazine waffles at Frank.
Rating: Another fairly amusing episode.

Show 519: "Outlaw", first broadcast 12/11/1993
The Film: From 1989, two guys are transported to a distant world ruled by wizard-king Jack Palance. Really bad, I assume they blew the whole budget signing Palance.
The Host Segments: Mike roughhouses with Crow and Servo. It doesn't end well. The Mads have invented a time machine. It doesn't end well. Mike, Crow and Servo are Fabio. Gypsy is unimpressed. Mike reviews his acting career with Crow and Servo. It seems he wore a sailor suit in every part he played. Mike, Crow and Servo sing "Toobular Boobular Joy". Later, they read from JackPalance's autobiography. They discuss the number of male groin shots in the movie. In Deep 13, the Mads dance.
Rating: An OK episode.

Show 518: "The Atomic Brain", first broadcast 12/4/1993
The Short: "What About Juvenile Delinquency" (1955) presents the problem of juvenile delinquency, but doesn't really offer any constructive suggestions what to do about it.
The Film: From 1963, this features a rich old woman collecting young women in order to transplant her brain into one of them. not very good.
The Host Segments: The Bots perform "Love Letters". Crow and Servo pose as Forrester and Frank. the Mads try to mock them back, but it doesn't go well. Servo turns himself into a weather satellite. It doesn't end well. Crow and Servo don't "get" Mike's chin puppet. Magic Voice is turned off by the voice-over guy from the movie. Crow does Hank Kimball from "Green Acres" as Richard Kimble from "The Fugitive" In Deep 13, "Doctor Fist" consults with Frank.
Favorite Line: "Oh, jam it, Aunt May!"
Rating: Another OK episode.

Show 602:"Invasion USA", first broadcast 7/23/1994
The Short: "A Date With Your Family" (1950) is narrated by Hugh Beaumont. It stresses the importance of children suppressing their emotions in order to make dinnertime comfortable for their parents.
The Film: From 1952, this features a hypnotist showing a barroom full of people a vision of a Soviet invasion of the USA. cheesy, melodramatic and extremely improbable. The most interesting thing about this picture is that Phyllis Coates and Noel Neill appear briefly in a scene together.
The Host Segments: Mike has built his own robot. It immediately goes on a rampage. Crow chooses a wire mother over a Dr. F doll. Mike and the Bots have a pleasant family dinner. Crow discusses the difference between Phyllis Coates and Noel Neill. The Bomb (Mike Dodge) visits the SOL. Mike and the bots try to cheer him up. Servo is convinced that life is all a dream. He insists that Mike hit him with a clown hammer. It doesn't end well. Frank asks Dr.F who won the World Series.
Favorite Line: "Claude, Vivian, I'm almost convinced this isn't an illusion. I'm gonna go lie down now."
Rating: A fun episode. One of my favorites.

Show 303: "Pod People", first broadcast 6/15/1991
The Film: From 1983, this is a Franco-Spanish movie that feels like a collision of three other films - an ET knock-off, a story about a band and a story about poachers. Odd and confusing, a perfect fit for MST3K.
The Host Segments: Joel and the Bots are having an "arts Chatauqua", whatever that is. Joel invents a new guitar chord. The Mads invent Public Domain Karaoke. Joel and the Bots parody the song from the film. The Mads and a strange woman (Bridget) listen in. It stinks. Joel, Crow and Servo play New Age music. Joel re-enact Trumpy doing stupid things. The Mads are mystified. Joel and the Bots sing "Clown in the Sky". The Mads: "It Stinks!"
Favorite Line: "Trumpy, you can do stupid things!"
Rating: A pretty good episode, actually. One of the more famous ones.

Show 603: "The Dead Talk Back", first broadcast 7/30/1994
The Short: "The Selling Wizard" (1954), from Anheuser-Busch, discusses the importance of proper use of freezer space in supermarkets. Not a subject that I had given much thought.
The Film: An odd little film from 1957 in which a man who believes that he can contact the dead by radio gets involved in a murder mystery. No one actually talks to the dead in this movie.
The Host Segments: Gypsy stages a fire drill. Dr. F invents pinpoint marketing, which was actually kind of prescient of them. Crow and Servo talk to the dead. The dead only want talk about football. Mike and the Bots impersonate the Grateful Dead. Crow has an interminable guitar solo which continues on-and-off for the rest of the episode and into the closing credits. Not being familiar with the Grateful Dead, I don't know how funny this is. Dr. F tries to interrogate Mike, only to have Frank confess to everything. Mike reads a letter. Dr.F plays William Tell with Frank.
Rating: An OK episode.

Show 808: "The She-Creature", first broadcast 4/5/1997
The Film: From 1956, this is the story of a sleazy hypnotist who somehow summons up a woman's prehistoric self, which goes on a rampage. Not very good. Kenneth MacDonald, who played crooks in a number of Three Stooges shorts, plays a police doctor in this.
The Host Segments: Crow and Servo confuse a Thighmaster with a Thawmaster. As the Observers are about to dissect Bobo, Pearl asks Mike for a distraction...Mike turns to the Nanites for help, and they obligingly blow up the Observers' planet. Crow invents the Tickle Me Carlo Lombardi Doll, Having survived, Pearl tires to get Bobo and Observer (Bill Corbett) to sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat". Mike studies Lance Fuller's non-acting method. Mike and the Bots discuss the "?" at the end of the film. Pearl and company are still in pursuit.
Favorite Line: "Mandrake the Moron"
Rating: A pretty good episode. Season Eight was actually a good time in the show's history.

Pearl was actually a fun character once she got going. I remember when they were going to replace Joel that I thought it would be nice if they had a woman in the SOL.
