  • I'm wrong, Al Jaffee is still alive.

  • It's telling that Mort Drucker's influence on MAD was so large, they made sure to have Drucker imitators do the movie and TV parodies for years after he wasn't doing them himself.

    There are any number of movies I "saw" first through Drucker's pen, and several I've only seen that way. And sometimes I would compare a movie satire that Drucker drew with the one John Severin made over in Cracked.

    Then again, I came across his early war comics stuff in Our Army at War and other DC titles. We are poorer for his passing.

  • One of my favorites, a tremendous artist. I always loved his inking style. His caricatures were incredible but the background elements and characters that he threw in helped to make his pages come alive.

  • This really shook me up, but partially because I thought he had already passed on. He was a true one of a kind.
