  • Updated to 1995.

  • 1995:

    • Ten-year old Ash Ketchem of Pallet Town, a grandson of Ulysses Bloodstone, cousin of Yugi Moto and a mutant possessing superior stamina and durability begins his quest of understanding and cataloguing genetically unstable creatures of extradimensional origins who populate his region and neighboring territories via portable containment spheres. His immediate goal is to win his region's championship using the creatures he befriends in controlled battles. However he must also combat various criminal cartels seeking world domination. He is aided by local agents Brock and Misty. But he still has to catch them all!

  • Interesting.  Seriously, you're better at this timeline stuff than I am! I kind of "cheated" by having all the Pokémon stuff happen in an "adjacent" extradimensional realm.  I figured if Pokémon existed in "our" timeline, they would drive all the "normal" animals into extinction, and somehow I was bothered by the idea of the Lone Ranger riding a Rapidash.

Great stuff, though.  Also, I messed up by putting it in 1996 instead of 1995. Must correct that.

  • Oh, and is Yugi Moto the "Yu-Gi_Oh" kid?  Never seen that.

  • Yes Yugi is the shy kid who loves games and puzzles whose grandfather gives him the Millennium Puzzle which he solves and gets merged with the Pharaoh which gives him more confidence (and makes him a much sharper dresser!).

I have most of the Yu-Gi-Oh manga and it's pretty good.

I made him Ash's cousin because the Yu-Gi-Oh card game was the next big thing after the Pokémon Trading Card game.

My personal theory is, despite the anime, that Pokémon haven't been around that long, about less than a hundred years and not in great numbers. The original Pokeballs were just invented around Professor Oak's childhood.

  • Updated through 1998.

Interesting. I think I may have had Yu-Gi-Oh mixed up in my brain with Digimon, which I have also never seen.

My personal Pokémon theory is that they were artificial life forms that escaped into the wild  a long time ago.

  • After I saw Rifftrax's Godzilla, I did some research and was shocked to find out that Godzilla IV aka American Godzilla was incorporated into the Tohoverse as ZILLA!

  • You've got to see Godzilla: Final Wars, if only for this scene.
