Got this at my local yesterday, let's see what they're selling...
1) Invincible Iron Man #1
Bendis/Marquez.
Tagline: "Upgrade."
Don't like the look of the new armor, but the art otherwise looks OK.
Me: Not interested, personally. Iron Man fans may like it.
2) A-Force #1:
Tagline: "A-Force to be reckoned with..." (Ha. Ha. Ha.)
Mostly the same characters, including the mysterious "Secret Wars Girl" that we don't know who she is, yet.
Me: I've been enjoying this series so far, I'll be curious to see how they explain its origin once the Marvel "Nu52" kicks in. I suppose that'll depend on how Secret Wars ends, and how much our heroes remember about it.
3) All-New All Different Avengers #1:
Tagline: "Earth's mightiest most dedicated heroes."
Female Thor, Captain America Sam Wilson, Iron Man, the Vision, Ms. Marvel, Nova and Spider-Man Miles Morales.
Me: Mildly-interesting line-up. Might give it a shot.
4) Uncanny Avengers #1:
Tagline: "Fighting for Humanity, Inhumanity, Mutants...and Deadpool."
Spider-Man Peter Parker, Quicksilver in a really ugly costume, a guy that I don't know who he is but might be Brother Voodoo in a new costume, a woman that I don't know who she is, Steve Rogers, a guy who looks like a constipated Human Torch, Rogue and Deadpool.
Me: I'll give this the miss. I don't "get" Deadpool.
5) New Avengers #1:
Tagline: "Avengers Idea Mechanics. We A.I.M. to help."
Hulkling, Songbird, Hawkeye Clint Barton, Squirrel Girl, and two guys that I don't know who they are.
Me: Maybe. They better not mess up Doreen's character.
6) Ultimates #1:
Tagline: "Ultimate problems need Ultimate solutions."
Black Panther, Monica Rambeau, I Don't Know Who He Is Man, Miss America, Carol Danvers and Galactus. Wow, they're going to have a hard time coming up with reasons why Galactus doesn't beat all their opponents by page three.
Me: Maybe. I'll give them an issue, but they better wow me.
7) Doctor Strange #1:
Tagline: "Some surgery requires a scalpel - some, an axe."
I picture a meeting at Marvel: "Say, Doctor Strange has never really been a headliner, how can we change that?" "I know, let's give him an axe!" "Brilliant!"
Me: Pass.
8) Captain Marvel #1:
Tagline "Captain Marvel rises"
For some reason, the art here is done in "fascist propaganda poster" style.
Me: Nah. Never a big Carol Danvers mark, and to me, "Captain Marvel" is Billy Batson.
9) Sam Wilson, Captain America #1:
Tagline: "Who do you stand with?"
Sam and Steve are not BFFs anymore?
Me: Nah. I weary of "Heroes at odds" storylines.
10) The Totally Awesome Hulk #1:
Tagline: "Who is the Hulk?"
Judging by that cowlick, it's Tintin.
Me: Pass.
11) The Mighty Thor #1:
Tagline: "The flesh may be weak but the thunder is strong."
Weird art. Is Female Thor's secret ID a cancer patient?
Me: Mildly curious, but my budget has limits.
12) Scarlet Witch #1:
Tagline: "Seeing red..."
Wanda, rocking the latest from the Lily Munster fashion line.
Me: Pass.
13) Ms.Marvel #1:
Tagline: "CRUSHED IT."
Kamala, wearing various Avengers' gear while being congratulated by Medusa, Lockjaw, and her male friend whose name escapes me. So, either she's celebrating becoming an Avenger, or the fact that she's killed them all and taken their stuff. Either one sounds promising to me.
Me: I've been trade-waiting this book, and will probably continue to do so. Good stuff, though.
14) Illuminati #1:
Tagline: "Forever evil"
A cloaked guy that I don't know who he is is firing machine guns. Silhouetted figures, one of whom may be Crusher Creel, are walking!
Me: Pass.
15) Hawkeye #1:
Tagline: "Hawkeye vs. Hawkeye"
More "hero vs. hero" stuff.
Me: Pass.
16) Ant-Man #1:
Tagline: "Once a criminal...?"
Ant-Man, with Whirlwind, Porcupine, a bug lady, Grizzly, and the lower half of a giant.
Me: Never interested in this character.
17) Vision #1:
Tagline: "A bold new Vision for the Marvel Universe."
More propaganda poster art.
Me: A born supporting character if ever there was one. Can't see him sustaining his own book.
18) Contest of Champions #1:
Tagline: "When heroes gather..."
Maestro making heroes fight, apparently.
Me: I'll pass. I don't recall the original series being that all-fired amazing.
19) Amazing Spider-Man #1:
Tagline: "Your friendly neighborhood just got bigger."
So, what, Peter Parker is Tony Stark Jr. now, is that it?
Me: Pass.
20) Carnage #1:
Tagline: "Descent into madness..."
Carnage appears to have aspirated a mineshaft.
Me: Another character whose popularity I don't "get".
21) Spider-Woman #1:
Tagline: "Parent by day. Hero by night."
Jessica is very pregnant.
Me: Could be quite interesting if well-executed.
22) Spider-Man #1:
Tagline: "Welcome to the Marvel Universe, Miles Morales. Hope you survive the experience!"
So, is he going to rationalized as always having been part of the "main" universe, or will he be an extradimensional "refugee"?
Me: Not a big fan of the character, but it's an interesting idea.
23) Spider-Gwen #1:
Tagline: "The secret history of Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker!"
Has a comic ever had two #1 issues in a one year period?
Me: I've really been enjoying this book. glad they don't seem to be messing with it.
24) Silk #1:
Tagline: "The Sinister Silk"
She appears to be robbing a bank. So, either she's she's gone bad, or we're supposed to think she has.
Me; Pass.
25) Spider-Man 2099 #1:
Tagline: "Smack to the future."
Is that a new outfit for him?
Me: Pass.
26) Web Warriors #1:
Tagline: "Defending the Spider-Verse"
Anya Corazon, Spider-UK, Spider-Man India, Spider-Ham, Spider-Man Noir and Spider-Gwen, apparently searching for a missing Spider-Man.
Me: This has possibilities. Who'd' a thunk I'd end up enjoying a book with Spider-Ham in it?
27) Daredevil #1:
Tagline: "The devil's apprentice"
DD has a little buddy, apparently.
Me: pass.
28) Guardians of the Galaxy #1:
Tagline: "The raccoon's in charge."
Rocket Raccoon, Drax, Venom, Groot, Ben Grimm and Girl Star-Lord (whom I'm told is Kitty Pryde), ready for action.
Me: Maybe. I think I'll wait and see what I hear about this.
29) Drax #1:
Tagline: "Best in the galaxy"
Drax is in Space UFC, apparently.
Pass: Pass, despite the stunt writer.
30) Howard the Duck #1 (Yes, again.)
Tagline: "Howard, uh, gets a new hat..."
Howard is angry and ashamed.
Me: No. I didn't even like the original book all that much, and this still feels like an offense against it. New rule: No one but Steve Gerber gets to do Howard the Duck. ("But, Baron, Gerber is dead." Exactly.) Also, I never thought about the fact that Howard didn't wear pants until they made him wear some!
31) Nova #1:
Tagline: "The family business..."
Nova and son, apparently.
Me: "Son, someday, I hope to see you be an uninteresting character that no one ever succeeds in making really popular no matter how talented they are and how many times they try, just like me."
32)Star-Lord #1:
Tagline: "Feels like the first time. Feels like the very first time."
Quill in an astronaut outfit.
Me: Pass. Nothing against the character, but my comics budget is limited.
33) Venom: Spaceknight #1:
Tagline: "Sometimes a hero needs a little space..."
Venom and pals being pursued by space mouths.
Me: Pass. Marvel sure is doing a lot of space-themed books, aren't they?
34) Howling Commandos of S.H.I.E.L.D. #1:
Tagline: "To fight the monsters of the world...We need the monster of the night!"
Dum Dum Dugan, Man-Thing and a bunch of critters I don't recognize.. and hey, is that zombie Jasper Sitwell? Is this like Marvel's answer to Frankenstein, Agent of S.H.A.D.E.? I can just picture Dum Dum thinking, :"They stuck me with Godzilla, too, back in the day..."
Me: Pass. Never was big on the Marvel Monsters, for some reason.
35) Agents of S.H,.I.E.L.D. #1:
Tagline: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."
A guy is being kissed by an abstract representation of HYDRA.
Me: Pass.
36) Uncanny Inhumans #1:
Tagline: "The silence is broken."
Black Bolt, Medusa, Triton, the blue-furred Beast, the constipated Human Torch again, and some guy I don't know.
Pass: Never liked the Inhumans.
37) Karnak #1:
Tagline: "The flaw in all things"
A face with green stripes on it.
Me: Pass.
38) Angela: Asgard's Assassin #1:
Tagline: "Hel hath a new fury."
Mrs. Merkel hanging out with Hela.
Me: Nah.
39) Squadron Supreme #1:
Tagline: "Sole survivors of their own worlds, they'll do ANYTHING to protect this one."
Hyperion, Thundra and four characters that I don't know who they are.
Me: Maybe. Wasn't this the plot of Exiles?
40) Extraordinary X-Men #1:
Tagline: "Still hated. Still feared. Still standing."
Storm, Old Logan, Nightcrawler, Iceman, bearded colossus, and two girls that I'm not sure who they are.
Me: Dunno. Haven't followed an X-book in years.
41) Uncanny X-Men #1:
Tagline: "Bigger threats require more threatening X-Men."
Mystique, Sabretooth and two characters I don't know who they are are relfected in Magneto's helmet.
Me: I'll pass on the "villains playing heroes" stuff."
42) All-New X-Men #1:
Tagline: "On a mission to make there own future."
Young Cyclops. Beast, Iceman and Angel with Girl Wolverine riding in a VW bus.
Me: Only if they have a talking dog and solve mysteries.
43) Old Man Logan #1:
Tagline: "Older. Wiser. Sharper."
"Ol' man Logan
Dat ol' man Logan
He mus'know sumpin'
But don't say nuthin',
He jes'keeps rollin'
He keeps on rollin' along."
Me: Pass. How did Logan get old, anyhow?
44) All-New Wolverine #1:
Tagline: "Best there is at what she does"
X-23 is now Wolverine.
Me: Not unless I hear great things about it.
45) Deadpool #1:
Tagline: "More Deadpool than you wanted"
Deadpool is surrounded by his adoring public.
Me: Pass.

FWIW, I'm probably going to check out anything written by Charles Soule or Al Ewing, and Greg Pak on Hulk has some potential.
I've been enjoying Howard the Duck to a point. I'm basically just considering this to be a brand new character.
I think putting Squirrel Girl in any sort of "real" Marvel Universe comic has potential to be terrible. Or awesome.
Oh, and the current Ant-Man series has been pretty good. It's one of the more "fun" comics out there.
I'll bite on Karnak by Warren Ellis. And probably Squadron Supreme. I like that each member is from a different earth.
No FF???
Gerry Conway writing Carnage???
I Don't Know Who He Is Man
The superhero equivalent of "That guy, You know, the one with the thing ..."
Who'd' a thunk I'd end up enjoying a book with Spider-Ham in it?
Me. I thought you were a fan of all things ham-ish.
My understanding is that because Marvel doesn't control the movie rights to the FF, they've decided to not have a title dedicated to them so as not to aid Fox, who does have the rights.
It's the same reason they're pushing the Inhumans and de-emphasising mutants as well. Yeah, it seems to be a really poor decision, but what can you do? Talk sense to them?

I have the preview art as well. Shall I add it to your post, Baron, or just add it down here somewhere?
Captain Comics said:
Feel free to add it if you like, Skipper. I would have done it if not for my technological limitations.
There you go. I thought what they sent me included previews, but apparently it's just covers. Which are nice.
Thanks, that's pretty much all I saw, myself!
Never have I found myself so disinterested in upcoming comics.
I am with Mr Jackson 're Charles Soule stuff and hope for Cullen Bunn's DC stuff but as for following characters or titles I have nothing left.
It has been a long time since we last saw Songbird, hasn't it? Since about the time of the Skrull invasion, IIRC? Good to see her again.
I hoped they would retire the "Ultimates" name, as well as the Venon and Carnage concepts. Not to be yet, apparently.
