Good afternoon, and happy #NCBD! We hope the last few days post-SDCC have been great and you’ve taken time to recover. But, as you know too well, the weekly publishing schedule doesn’t stop. If you can’t even think about reviewing a comic right now, let alone one with TEN incredible stories in it, we’re here to help:

Below are the credits, and attached are the credits pages, for each of the stories in the oversized anthology 80-page giant DC’s BEACH BLANKET BAD GUYS SUMMER SPECIAL #1. Post them in a preview, share them on social with tags to the creators with some praise, or dig in and review a few of your favorite stories and give that creative team some energy during these mid-summer post-con dog days. Share the love, enjoy your summer break, and have some fun. If you have interest in connecting with any of the creative teams, please reach out to me directly and I’ll check their availability. Many of them are in the same post-con catchup that you are, but I’m happy to help give these stories some attention on a blistering hot Wednesday in LA.

It’s summertime in the DCU and the bad guys are taking over! Beat the heat with 10 all-new stories by top comics talent starring DC’s most spectacular super-villains! In this issue, find out what Mr. Freeze does on the hottest day of the Gotham City summer! Learn what made Grodd such a bad gorilla! Then, while in a small beach town, Deathstroke gets hired for murder by the last person he’d expect! And The Joker and Bizarro team up for a truly weird summer bromance!

  • And The Joker and Bizarro team up for a truly weird summer bromance!

I expect this story to be about Batman stewing and fuming about this bromance. I picture him throwing darts at a picture of Bizarro, and looking at a picture of the Joker with a tear rolling down his cheek. It ends with Batman beating the crap out of Bizarro, the Joker swooning, and then Batman and Joker ride into the sunset together.

Anything else would be inconsistent with the way the Joker and Batman have been written for the last ten years or so.

    It's been done!

  • "Useless belt" tickles my funny bone.

  • I never understood why it wasn't a "futility belt"...

  • I read the story. It did not live up to what DC has written over the past few years. There was no reference to Batman's love for the Joker, nor the Joker's love for Batman.
