GLAMOURPUSS ?

I have been following Dave Sim's GLAMOURPUSS , from Aardvark-Vanehiem (Sp??) , but , frankly , I would like to know if it is still running ??!!!

Or , at least available from Diamond .

My new...ish LCS claims to not see it listed in the most recent Previews , though they placed it on my pull list .

Now , I had little history with CEREBUS THE AARDVARK when Glamourpuss started . I started buying it at Number One...

  • It's bi-monthly so it's going to be in only every other issue of Previews. Issue #21 should ship today.

  • Issue #22 was solicited in the September PREVIEWS, and it's bimonthly, so it wouldn't be in the most recent catalog. I don't see any indication it's been cancelled, although I don't know how prompt it is.

  • ...Thank you to both :-) !!!!!!!!!!!
  • Issue #21is a little out of the ordinary. Dave Sim narrates (in an EC Comics font): “Neil Gaiman reportedly said (when asked about glamourpuss) ‘I like a story.’ So here’s a story for Neil taken from today’s headlines — about an inquest into the death of a prisoner right here in Kitchener! One of those incidents where it’s very easy to be critical of the authorities until you ask yourself, ‘What would I have done differently in their situation?”’ He then proceeds to set aside (mostly) the pop culture parody and tell that very story.
  • ...So , the ongoing history of " girl "/glamorous realism strips of the post-WWII period is set aside for now ????? ( SPOILER ! ) Has Alex Raymond been killed off already ???
  • No, just the fashion bit was set aside (apparently for just this one issue); Alex Raymond is still alive at this point, but his minutes are numbered.
  • Glamourpuss continues to be one of the weirder experiences in comics -- more like well-illustrated blog than an actual comic. It feels more like watching Dave Sim shift boxes around in his mental attic. I haven't read the most recent issue yet, but as I was reading the last one, I found myself wondering if Cerbeus would have gotten as 'political' as it did in the second half if Sim had had the outlet that Glamourpuss seems to be providing him.

    Probably.

  • ...When I wrote my last entry , it worked out elegantly re: the left column , as I originally but a blank spot where Alex Raymond's name is , I just mentally blocked on the name of RIP KIRBY's creator at that time , even FLASH GORDON , the Web is good for that , so I put a blank space up with his name and went to Yahoo?? and enterede Flash Gordon , even before I formally entered FG I saw " Flash Gordon comic strip " so I didn't , as I thought might be the case , first see stuff about the movies , anyway , of course , I saw Raymond linked , then came back and revised...but that meant the entry went up on the leftt column with Raymond's name blanked out !

Even revisions don't lead to the left column changing...so !!!!!!!!!!!

      Yeah , Dne , that's a point...I've thought that it is rather a " column " on Dave's point ( Rather old-fashioned term on my point , I suppose . ) , his opinions/comments .

I think all Dave Sim comics should feature, not necessarily "Cerebus the Barbarian" but Cerebus the Aardvark" (as did that issue of Spawn he wrote) as Sim's "mouthpiece." Now he seems to be using "Glamourpuss" (and Johnny McPhanbot") in that role.

    Bring back Cerebus!
  • ...I got #22 to-day !!!!!!!!! First in a while , so , RELIEF .
