Glee Musicals

I was listening to the soundtrack for Wicked a while back and I realized that the characters from Glee would be great stand-ins for the love triangle.  Finn Hudson would make a great Fiyero.  He's a hunk who wants to do the right thing, but is slightly dim.  Quinn Fabray would make a great Glinda.  She's blonde.  And Rachel Berry could play Elphaba.  She doesn't quite fit in and she's got a great voice.

Glinda: Quinn Fabray
Elphaba: Rachel Berry
Fiyero: Finn Hudson

So what about the rest of the cast?

Boq: Kurt Hummel- the boy with the best voice, plus I think he could play the character's puppy dog love
Nessa: Tina Cohen-Chang- a good enough singer to handle the solo parts, plus a quiet personality
Madame Morrible: Santana Lopez- Mercedes is the better singer but Santana is better at being bad
Doctor Dillamond: Artie Abrams- I could say  "just because" but I can't see either Sam or Puck pulling off this character while Artie could handle the necessary earnestness
The Wizard: Will Schuester- I like the idea of having the teacher play the significantly older (and not from the land of Oz) wizard
Chistery: Mike Chang- it's the perfect part for him, a character that's known for movement and doesn't have to sing

The Chorus of Townspeople and Students: Mercedes, Brittany, Sam and Puck

  • Nice!

Following the Rocky Horror episode, questionable though its storyline was, I find myself hoping that Glee does an episode each season where the kids put on the school's musical, and all the songs come from that. Wicked would make a good choice on that front for next year.
  • I'm hoping for Miss Saigon

  • Co-directed by Mr. Schuester and the new drama/English teacher, Mr. Max Fischer.
  • Didn't Kurt already do a number from "Wicked" in season 1? It doesn't mean they can't do a whole episode, mind you.
That being said, I wonder if "Wicked" is really all that recognizable to the general public, especially to assume they have knowledge of the plot and how "Glee" might spoof it.
(It's actually the first on-Broadway Broadway show I've ever seen. Thumbs up!)
  • For the Glee audience I would think that Wicked would be very familiar. And, yes, Rachel and Kurt did Defying Gravity in the first season and the original Broadway Glenda and Elphaba have been on the show more than once.
