1. How is the Coronavirus situation where you live? What's closed down? Have you gone out much? Are you (Oh, what's the trendy term now " Self-distancing "?) staying inside as a precaution or actually infected or is anyone else you know? I hope, if so, you're well. Let's...well, exchange comments.
  2.   I am now in Portland, Oregon. The Govenor, and then, locally, Portland declared a state of emergency. I saw the comment made that Oregon was the furthest behind on dealing with CV of the 3 West Coast states.
  3.   I went out yesterday ( Sun.), I am ill and had sleep to make up to-day (Mon.) and ended up not going out - I may go out across the street to a all-nite grocery tonite-early Tues. I have not heard of a regular medical appointment Tues. being cancelled.

Went and got a haircut Saturday, since Cuomo is closing all those places down for the duration.

My friendly neighborhood comics shop has posted new hours, at least for this week:

  • closed Sunday and Monday;
  • closed Tuesday to the public; that's when they should get the delivery of comics from UPS and will stock the shelves and pull lists;
  • open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but only to offer curbside delivery.

Curbside delivery is a new wrinkle, especially as the store is on the second floor, above a Subway restaurant ... which, I expect, is probably open only for carryout, as is the new normal.

Being on the second floor, the UPS guy often doesn't want to tote those heavy boxes full of comics up the stairs. In these circumstances, they may not do it just because word is the coronavirus lasts on surfaces like cardboard for up to 24 hours, giving them the excuse not to do something they don't like doing anyway.

One advantage of sporting the Lex look. I haven't had a haircut since the early years of this century.

In Eastern Los Angeles County we have been pretty much in lockdown for a week (seems longer). Grocery stores, including Costco and Walmart, are open. They are finally taking a stand of "one per customer" on items that have been hard to get because people were buying too much. My LCS was open last week. Not sure if it still is, because it sounds like they are putting their foot down that non-essential businesses* should close. Restaurants with drive-through windows are mainly still open, as are restaurants capable of "curbside delivery." No eating inside restaurants.

Today I went to my scheduled Red Cross blood donation. As careful as they always are, they were twice as careful today. What usually takes an hour took two-and-a-half hours.

 *which should NOT include comic stores

I am now at home until April 7.

My daughters are finishing this semester (collage) on line

My wife is trying to help get online stuff running for the school dept.

Most of the stores are closed.

I haven't been out shopping since last Thursday.

Last night at 11:59PM, Dallas County went to Shelter-at-Home which is basically the same as Richard is experiencing above,including the closing of non-essential businesses. Those companies will get an exemption if they start producing materials for the county first responders/medical personnel. Masks, hand sanitizers, etc.

Me and a couple of friends had a "Last Supper" last night.

Since my LCS is now closed, and no new comics are going to be coming in, They are reaching out to people on subs, to see if they can settle their accounts to help out during this time.

I was listening to an owner of a few restaurants on the radio the other day, and he said that pivoting to a take-out only model basically going from 20 people staffing his store to three.

Of course the most Texas thing that has happened is that the Governor repealed the law that made delivery of alcohol illegal. So now people can get liquor delivered from the restaurants. Some are also allowing people to pick some up with their order, but I don't think that is exactly legal.

On Monday, the mayor of Denver issued a "stay at home" order for non-essential businesses, which included liquor stores and retail marijuana dispensaries.

That prompted such a run on the liquor stores and marijuana shops that the order was amended three hours later.

From KDVR-TV: "Liquor and Marijuana Stores Can Now Stay Open with 'Extreme Social Distancing' After Denver Reverses Decision"

Well, my friendly neighborhood comics shop announced it is closing tonight, following the shutdown of non-essential businesses ordered by the mayor.

Here, in the UK, on Monday evening, our government changed its policy from "voluntary self-isolation" to "enforced lockdown". New rules, introduced on Monday evening include

1. We must work from home unless we work in an essential industry

2. We are only allowed out for trips to supermarkets for essential foods

3. We are only allowed out once a day for exercise (walking, running or cycling)

4. We must not mix with or go close to any other people other than the people we share our house with.

5. This will continue until April 14th at the earliest.

This is putting a strain on a lot of relationships. Luckily me and my wife have been together for 41 years so are able to put up with each other, even if we spend 23 hours a day together.

The dog is absolutely fed up with being walked.

41 years! Respect, dude!

Indeed!
