Review: 'Watchmen' deluxe HC

Watchmen: The Deluxe Edition

Reprinting Watchmen #1-12

Writer: Alan Moore

Artist: Dave Gibbons

DC Comics, $39.99, color, 448 pages

I don't really have much to say about this. But DC sent me a review copy, so I feel obliged to review it.

There's nothing I can add to what's already been said about Watchmen. If you haven't read it, you should, and if you have, you know how good it is. And chances are you have read it, because it's quite possibly the best-selling graphic novel of all time.

So all that one can really review is the packaging. And this is very nice. It's a hardback with a dust cover, and it's slightly larger (7.4 x 11.1") than a comic book, so you can see the art better. And it's got a dozen or so pages in the back containing conceptual sketches, page-blocking, notes and so forth. And there's a brief new Foreword by Gibbons.

Which is, as I say, nice. It's not as nice as Absolute Watchmen, which I have, so I don't really need this. But if you don't have Absolute Watchmen, and you just want a copy nicer than the trade paperback you already have, then here's a nice package at a nice price.
