It's supposed to start after midnight here...maybe a couple of inches. Huzzah! It's cocoa and Sky Captain night at the Beechler-Simpson home!

And late Thursday night...early Friday morning...snow!

Looks like I'm gettin' outta Dodge at the right time.

Yesterday I walked home about two and a half miles from work in a blizzard. The sidewalks were 12-18 inches deep. It was like wading through cold mud. I had to go on the streets which were in better shape. I went against the traffic so I could see the headlights at least. There were a few cars out but some just drove too fast. The wind was so strong and frigid. I could barely see in front of me. Everything was indistinct and blurry, even though I knew exactly where I was, it was a surreal and frightening experience.

Today I spent four hours shovelling snow. The main problem was where to put it. We got around 20 inches but the drifts could reach twice that. My back is sore. My arms hurt. My legs are in pain. And I have to work tomorrow with iffy mass transit.

"Oh the weather outside is frightful, but the fire's so delightful,

and since we have no place to go, let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!"

Meh!

I hear ya, man. I didn't have to be anywhere (and didn't travel in the snow), but my wife and I spent WAY too much of the day shoveling lots and lots of snow. And then, when the plows finally came, we did it again.
We only got a couple of inches, but it was enough to shut everything down on Sunday.  Of course, it was Sunday, so not a big deal unless you were a retailer hoping for big after-Christmas sales.  I did have to do the classic bit of sweeping snow off the satellite dish to restore the signal on Christmas night (fortunately I only had to get up on a stepladder with a broom to do it, not actually up on the slippery roof).  First time that's happened in four years of having satellite at this house.  There was only a light coating: it sure doesn't take much!  It was worth it to be able to watch the Doctor Who Christmas special.
From my perspective, a truly beautiful sight: "No-mageddon: The Washington, D.C. Snow Hole"
43 here today, supposed to be in the 60s tomorrow.

Sunday afternoon, my daughter got to see real-falling-from-the-sky snow, right here in Tallahassee!

We had about 4 hours of intermittant, so-small-you-could-only-see-it-if-you-looked-at-something-dark, SNOW! The tiny flakes melted and evaporated almost instantly when it hit something, but it was SNOW!

The only thing that accumulated was smiles!

I missed it! I heard it snowed again yesterday as well. It's been cold enough here.

I'd be perfectly content if I never saw any damned snow again for the rest of my life.
I haven't seen any in the past nine years and I'm perfectly content.
Having lived in Florida my whole 28 years, I get excited at the thought of snow. I realize if I saw it all the time, I would probably think differently.

Having a 20"+ snowfall in February and another in December takes a lot of luster off the "Winter Wonderland" theme! New York City is one of those places blessed and cursed with all varieties of weather, good and bad!

I had to walk to work this morning while co-workers ( or other employees since they are not working) who live in the area called out while others who travelled upstate in a blizzard were stunned to realize they couldn't come back!

I cannot wait for Spring!
