To help us appreciate comic book art I'd like to start a sort of forum game. Respond to this post with a "GIVE ME AN ARTIST!" message and I will will assign you a comic book artist.

RULES UPDATE!

I'll list an artist and everyone who wants to join in can do so! When I list an artist, you have 24 hours to post an image before we move on to the next one.

It doesn't matter if you don't know their work; just Google the artist and choose an image of the one you like most, and add it into this thread. Try not to repeat images someone else has posted.

I'll urge you to make comments about your post and others people have posted.

It always seemed to me that 1980s Marvel had a very odd fascination with the Morlocks. I always felt they were the "boring" setting in the Super Villain hierarchy. I was glad to the Mutant Massacre happened!

Anyway, a cover with Nightcrawler is always a good cover!

I'll play, too, btw!

Rob, you get Mikel Janin!

Heh, I was thinking if I was to give you an artist, LJ it would have been Joe Staton. For me it is who I associate an artist with, and I know he has done a ton of comics, Staton is a GL artist. His style was perfect for all of different constructs the Lanterns create. While he normally has a cartoony style, I've also seen him bust out a more serious style. Anyway, I am kind of cheating on this one, and using two covers, but I love the fact that is doing an homage to himself:

My favorite Joe Staton work is on E-Man and Michael Mauser

I loved that series. E-Man had a run before that, under a different publisher, and some sporadic runs since then, under other publishers, but I loved that one.

I haven't seen a lot of Miken Janin art yet -- he's not on any books I regularly collect. But I did buy *this* issue!

Didn't Lightle draw the covers for the second Avengers index series...some really good covers made me wish he's done the series proper,

Since I'm pulling this idea off of Facebook, I'll start with the artist I was assigned ... Steve Lightle.

Let me know if you still want to play folks!  It's been fun for me too!

I'll do another.

Randy, you get Khoi Pham!

Khoi Pham...much more to my liking I'd say.

I'm choosing this one because I just enjoy seeing the way the characters are aligned and ready to pounce, about to lay the smack down on the roody poo candy asses of whatever villains are base enough to cross them.
