Anyone else check this out?
My favorite part was the art by Stefano Caselli. He's one of my favorite artists and he's on his A game here. Also, I've noticed that in the past (Secret Warriors) the color has been kind of muted for his pencils which doesn't work well for me, however hear the colors are nice, bold and bright.
The story starts with Cap on the Helicarrier. The Avengers have agreed to aid SHIELD when necessary. Turns out today, is a bad day. Lots of stuff happening all over the world. All seemingly unrelated. The teams are all sent to various locations where you know what hits the fan.
The story starts off pretty well. Like I said before I really liked the art. I don't know yet if this will have some big underlying plot or if it'll just be Avengers in action. There's a lot going on though so it'll be nice if ends up tying together.

The Avengers franchise keeps expanding. I am reluctant to add another title from it but I will give this my typical 3 issue tryout to win me over. Caselli's art is a plus, for sure.
Which Avengers seem to be the stars of the book?
There's quite a few in here. Cap, Banner and Maria Hill are directing things from the Helicarrier. Then you've got the response teams
Hyperion, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) and Thor but they are just on one page and don't seem to be a focus for at least this issue.
Wolverine, Falcon, Black Widow and Shang Chi make up another team.
Hawkeye, Spider-Woman, Night Mask and Starbrand are another.
Finally Smasher, Cannonball and Sunspot round it out.
Keep in mind all of these teams are in various locations and find their own kind of trouble.
I really enjoyed this issue. Stefano Caselli is one of the most underrated artists in the medium, including by me.
Nick Spencer, who I had been admittedly judging for years by his underwhelming and over-hyped (IMO) Morning Glories, also is proving to be one of the most underrated writers in comics. Secret Avengers and Superior Foes of Spider-Man have proven that. No longer am I seeing "Jonathan Hickman and Nick Spencer" to be a watered-down version of Jonathan Hickman; I'm finding those books to be even better than Hickman solo work.
This book could prove to be the strongest of the Avengers family of titles.
Got a chance to pick this up today and read it. (Unfortunately this is the 2nd LCS I have visited that was sold out of BLack Widow #1)
I really liked it. Caselli's art is top notch. I suspect this was more Spencer than Hickman, as I found it read differently than Hickman's Avengers, not radically so but a definite change in tone.
Splitting such a large team into sub-teams is a good move. My suspicion is that what each team is involved in will all tie together at some point.
