WONDER WOMAN #32
(W) Tom King (A/CA) Daniel Sampere
THE WONDER WAR CONTINUES! ALL HAIL THE MATRIARCH! After a disastrous attempt at stopping the Matriarch, she has risen more powerful than ever. Now it's up to Trinity, who finds herself alone as her allies fall one by one, to stop her childhood companion. Can the daughter of Wonder Woman finally live up to the name and all the pressures that come with it?
This story is Tom King's attempt to create an arch-enemy for Wonder Woman, on par with Joker and Lex Luthor. Can you really plan to catch lightning in a bottle? If anyone can do it, it's this writer with this character, so I'm on board.
MAN OF STEEL #1 FACSIMILE EDITION
This was the first Superman book after Crisis on Infinite Earths, setting Kal-El's course for years to come. I remember buying it, and crossing my fingers. Writer/artist John Byrne did indeed make some major changes. Ma and Pa Kent were no longer dead, no other Kryptonians were going to be allowed to exist (including Supergirl and the original population of Kandor) and Superman's invulnerability was interpreted as some sort of invisible force field (which included clothing right up against his skin, which left his cape to get constantly shredded).
WORLD'S FINEST COMICS #195 FACSIMILE EDITION
I guess, once again, the cover is why we're getting a facsimile. It didn't make any sense, because didn't Batman also have a code against killing? It's the utter absurdity that hooks you. They knew how to sell a book in them thar days!
And check out that Hot Wheels ad! I was collecting those, too, at the time.

SADDLE UP FOR THIS ANTHOLOGY OF WESTERN TALES FROM THE BRONZE AGE. Journey back to the Old West--where fast wits and a fast draw were the only way to survive--and follow heroes like Hawk, Firehair, El Diablo, and more as they try to bring some semblance of justice to the lawless frontier. DC Finest: Western: The Hangman Never Loses is chock-full of classic frontier adventure by some of comics’greatest creators, including Robert Kanigher, John Albano, Gil Kane, Joe Kubert, Tony DeZuniga, and others. Collects ALL-STAR WESTERN #1-11; SUPER DC GIANT #S-14, #S-15, and #S-22; TOMAHAWK #130-140; and WEIRD WESTERN TALES #12-17, published between August 1970 and April 1973.
Here's another DC Finest I'm delighted to see. Sure, I've read some of these stories. But absent this reprint series, I'd never have re-read them, as they deserve. And there are a few stories I haven't read, like those from Tomahawk.

FIREBORN #1
Lost Fantasy fans can sneak a peek at early pages from co-creators Curt Pires (Indigo Children), singer/songwriter Franklin Jonas, and rising star artist Patrick Mulholland’s upcoming series launch Fireborn. This new tale will be set in the same world of the beloved Lost Fantasy series and will hit shelves next month from Image Comics.
Fireborn follows Aaron Hillburg, who is just another rich-kid failson ghosting his responsibilities, hopping rooftops and hating his billionaire father in peace … until a mysterious floating dragon egg bonds to him and ignites a hidden lineage of ancient magic inside his body.
Now every violent outlaw wizard, biker cultist, and supernatural warlord between New York City and The World Beneath is hunting him — and they’ll burn the world down to pry the egg from his corpse.
"Curt Pires is an impressive talent who has been threatening to take over the comics world since we first worked with him on Olympia and Indigo Children, and the equally talented and boundlessly enthusiastic Franklin Jonas has proven to be the perfect partner for him on this expansion of his Lost Fantasy universe," said Eric Stephenson, Publisher & Chief Creative Officer at Image Comics. "In a time when comics needs big new ideas more than ever, it’s thrilling to watch them deliver something this cool!"
Fireborn promises readers a high octane fusion of fantasy and superheroes perfect for fans of Invincible, How To Train Your Dragon and Absolute Batman.
Here's a new Image Comics title that changes Lost Fantasy into the Lost Fantasy Universe. The choice of a slacker nepo-baby as the protagonist is an odd one, unless they plan Very Special Episodes and a redemption arc.

Ben Harel
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 21, 2026) - Welcome to the afterlife…may we take your bags? Hijinks and heartbreak await as this fan-favorite online comic becomes a gorgeous graphic novel, Hotel Limbo (Book 1) arrives April 14, 2026 at retailers everywhere. In this charming series debut, writer Ben Harel teams up with 28 artists from around the world to breathe life into a story about death. As comedy dances with drama and mystery, every tonal shift and blurred line is accentuated by an ever-changing visual style, creating a genre-bending medley of deadly (and death-ly) adventures. Hotel Limbo found an audience as a Webtoon with more than 1.3M views of this most of the time hilarious, sometimes terrifying, and oftentimes heartbreaking glimpse into the afterlife.
“My debut as a published author makes absolutely no sense. I went from coming up with terrible stories while playing with toys as a kid, to writing terrible fan fiction as a teenager, to slowly losing that part of me as I pursued my career as a therapist. I took the "mature," "responsible" path, and I thought I'd closed that other door forever,” says creator Ben Harel. “One day I made an impulsive decision involving a huge financial investment and years of work filled with self-doubt and uncertainty, and here we are. It feels like I hopped into a different timeline. The ideas of anyone buying my book, meeting people who've read it, or even just holding it with my own hands - none of it feels possible. I'm just grateful for the immature, irresponsible kid in me who opened that door.”
After awakening in the middle of nowhere, a young man is forcefully inducted into the Hotel Limbo as its new bellboy (“BB” for short). Faced with magical masks, giant cats, a mysterious staff, and a hotel that just won’t sit still, BB will soon learn that helping with “baggage” means something very different when all the guests are dead.
Hotel Limbo will be available wherever books are sold, as a full-color softcover graphic novel (ISBN: 978-1-60309-587-7) as well as a digital edition, on April 14, 2026, for a list price of $19.99. For more information please visit theTop Shelf web site.

THE SECRETS OF MUMM-RA REVEALED! Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living has been a sinister enigma to the ThunderCats ever since they first set foot on Third Earth. Now, in the second chapter of author DECLAN SHALVEY’s epic 15-part ThunderCats X SilverHawks crossover event, the infamous devil-priest’s ancient and tortured history will finally be unveiled! It all begins in a pyramid — but not the sinister black fortress that haunts Lion-O’s dreams. This is Earth during the reign of the pharaohs, and for one nameless slave a chance discovery and a selfish act of cruelty will open a pathway to both freedom and power — for a price! Written by Shalvey and illustrated by acclaimed ThunderCats Lost artist RAPHA LOBOSCO, Mumm-Ra the Ever-Living #1 takes a deep dive into one of pop culture’s greatest villains — enhanced by appropriately atmospheric covers from SHALVEY, DANNY EARLS, JOHN AMOR, and ERICA D’URSO, as well as a special piece of classic ANIMATION ART. This debut issue also features three spectacular incentive editions, including an original cover from Shalvey, a special Mumm-Ra portrait from the WBD Library, and an autographed edition of Shalvey’s main cover signed by ThunderCats original series voice actor LARRY KENNEY!

This legendary comic, introducing Buddy Bradley and his loser roommates Stinky and George, remains a defining icon of grunge-era alternative culture, and a riotous look at aimless youth.

I think that you're going to enjoy those TOMAHAWK stories, with their beautiful Frank Thorne artwork. I wonder if they'll include Joe Kubert's Firehair backups?
I spent several years tracking down all ten of the Hawk, Son of Tomahawk issues, getting several doubles and even buying one in another state! I'm glad that they're being collected!
One thing I learned was this: Don't mess with Ol' Man Tomahawk!
I'm glad to hear Tomahawk is good. I only have a couple of issues, and don't remember much about them (except that Bob Brown was involved in some way).
