COMICS GUIDE FOR OCT. 8, 2014
Titles listed in the Comics Guide come from the weekly list at the Diamond Comic Distributors Inc. website, and are subject to change. The information in the Comics Guide comes not only from Diamond but from solicitations, press releases and previews released by the publishers, except for random comments by Captain Comics (in blue), and comments by The Baron in this here purple color. BEST BETS
AVENGERS & X-MEN: AXIS #1 (OF 9, $4.99, Marvel Comics): The big Marvel crossover Axis begins here. The hype says heroes will be bad, villains will be good and nothing will ever be the same again! Of course, they pretty much always say that. Still, it looks like a big story that no Marvel fan should overlook.
BATGIRL #35 ($2.99, DC Comics): If you've been following the PR, you know that Barbara "Batgirl" Gordon is going to stow the grim-n-gritty away and become a young hipster in Gotham's version of, I guess, Greenwich Village. I'm not usually attracted to happy, hip-hoppy teen stories, and that's the vibe here, but it does look different -- and might be the right antidote to all the humorless teeth-clinching you usually see in superhero comics.
BATMAN #35 ($3.99, DC): A new storyline begins, "Batman: Endgame," that, yes, promises will change everything. I don't believe that, but I've learned to never underestimate Scott Snyder.
BIRTHRIGHT #1 ($2.99, Image Comics): To paraphrase George S. Kaufman, "fantasy is what gets canceled by issue #6." But this is pretty good-looking fantasy, plus there's an overarching horror approach that may make it pretty interesting.
BLACKSAD: AMARILLO ($17.99, Dark Horse): You'd think a story about an anthropomorphic black cat private eye in an anthropomorphic noir world would be kinda dumb. But this is really good stuff -- like Usagi Yojimbo, it transcends the funny-animal memes from which it's constructed.
EARTH 2: WORLD'S END #1 ($2.99, DC): DC launches a new weekly with its mostly interesting Earth 2 cast, who (according to Future's End) will lose their planet, with many refugees coming to "our" Earth. Who will live? Who live die? Any character is fair game, which should make it interesting. Plus, the first issue is 48 pages for only $2.99!
KLARION #1 ($2.99, DC): One of Kirby's weirdest creations, Klarion the Witch-Boy hasn't appeared in the New 52 before, so his status quo could be just about anything. (Although they'll probably resurrect much of what Grant Morrison did with the character back in Seven Soldiers.) DC isn't saying much, but I must admit my curiosity's piqued.
NEIL GAIMAN'S THE GRAVEYARD BOOK VOLUME 2 ($19.90, Harper Collins): Fantastic. Just fantastic. Buy it.
OCTOBER FACTION #1 ($3.99, IDW Publications): Steve Niles has done a lot of good horror work, from 30 Days of Night to Monster & Madman. That's good enough for me.
SABRINA #1 ($3.99, Archie Comics): Following in the huge footsteps of the smash hit Afterlife with Archie, DC is launching its second Teen+ horror book. Given Sabrina's, um, adventures in Afterlife, one must suppose this book will be unrelated in anything but tone. But that's fine -- I just want it to be good, not arbitrarily consistent with some other book! And in a nice touch, Archie has tossed older fans a shout-out to a previous effort at horror, Chilling Adventures in Sorcery, in logo name and type style.
VAMPIRELLA: FEARY TALES #1 (of 5, $3.99, Dynamite): As part of her 45th year anniversary, the long-running character gets a new miniseries where Vampi is sucked into a storybook and must play out various stories in order to escape. That's as good a way as any for Archie to allow various creators tell their own Vampirella stories without obeisance to continuity, which is the plan.
WONDER WOMAN: THE COMPLETE NEWSPAPER COMICS VOL 1 (HC, $49.99, IDW): IDW fills in a part of the Amazing Amazon's publishing history that few have ever seen before. I hope it's like finding a stash of Marston/Peters Wonder Woman comics you've never read before.
WYTCHES #1 ($2.99, Image): I've interviewed Snyder for the Tribune column (which you'll see in a couple of weeks), but don't wait -- go read it now. It promises to be some of Snyder's scariest work, and that's saying a lot.
X-O MANOWAR #0 ($3.99, Valiant): Find out the background of Valiant's #1 character.

Titles are grouped alphabetically by publisher, in this order: Action Lab Entertainment, Archie Comics, Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics, Dynamite, IDW Publishing, Image Comics, Marvel Comics, Valiant Comics and the catch-all Other Publishers.

Before Det. Katherine Bell became a dedicated officer of the law, she was a young, troubled girl with a dangerous coping mechanism in the form of her alternative, psychopathic personality, "Kitty." As an adult, Katherine had managed to bury her dangerous alter ego deep inside her mind while she pursed the enigmatic drug-lord known only as "Domiko." Few people have ever seen Domiko in person and his vast network of criminal operations have made him impossible to locate until Katherine finally has a lead which puts her in harm's way. After a near-fatal attempt on her life, Katherine's mind is opened and "Kitty" is back! Katherine and "Kitty" now face a battle of the mind as each personality struggles to take control. Katherine strives to uphold her duty as an officer while Kitty has her own grudge to settle ... and Kitty never lets morality or the law get in the way of her getting what she wants.
I bought a bunch of Bad Kitty books back when it was a Chaos! book, primarily for the art, which I found clean and sexy without being "fan service." I actually have no idea who it was, but whoever it was, they were better than the artist above, who seems to think that T-shirts remain tightly form-fitting even when the subject is leaning over.

Dynamite Entertainment is proud to announce the upcoming launch of Evil Ernie, a comic book series showcasing the most iconic horror fiend in the industry and the cornerstone of the popular Chaos! Comics shared universe. Co-written by Chaos! architect Tim Seeley (Hack/Slash) alongside his brother and fellow writer Steve Seeley, Evil Ernie will feature interior artwork by talented artist Rafael Lanhellas. The first issue will debut in October 2014, and features a wide selection of cover options by Tim Seeley, Jae Lee, Carlos Rafael, Ardian Syaf, Kyle Hotz, Ken Haeser, and Andrew Mangum.
"Steve and I first discovered Evil Ernie when the first issue (of the classic 1990s series) came out. We were both teenagers, and our dad was a big horror movie fan, so we were plenty familiar with mayhem and massacre," says Tim Seeley. "But something about seeing this punk teenager trying to take out the entire world really appealed to us. So, when a new Evil Ernie series was available, Steve and I figured it'd be a great time to debut out first brother-on-brother comic book collaboration, as we return Ernie to his anti-hero/slasher movie roots. This is going to be tongue-in-cheek, apocalyptic slasher movie comic book goodness, loaded with everything that two guys spent their teenage years neck deep in: heavy metal, horror, and comics."
"Tim knows horror like few other writers in comics today. The Seeley brothers demonstrate their knowledge of and passion for Evil Ernie on each page of the scripts, and I can't wait for fans to read this suspense and horror-filled adventure," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci.
In Evil Ernie #1, the teenage psychopath Ernest Fairchild is dead, resigned to Hell where he belongs. But when reality is threatened by an evil even the Devil can't handle, he calls on the only weapon that can prevent total megadeath: Evil Ernie himself. Meanwhile, the genocidal Mistress Hel has found new love... or perhaps the term "loves" would be more appropriate. A tale that follows in the wake of the Chaos! mini-series event yet welcomes new readers with an easy jumping-on point, Evil Ernie proves that the deadliest mass murderer of all time may be the world's only hope.
Dynamite will celebrate the new Evil Ernie #1 with a variety of cover options. Co-writer Tim Seeley performs double-duty by supplying the Main cover. Variant cover editions feature the talent of Carlos Rafael (Warlord of Mars: Dejah Thoris), Ardian Syaf (Batgirl), Kyle Hotz (The Hood), and Ken Haeser (The Living Corpse). To celebrate the classic Chaos! Comics art style, an "Old School" variant is supplied by Andrew Mangum. Finally, superstar illustrator Jae Lee (Batman/Superman, The Dark Tower) provides a special incentive cover to encourage strong pre-orders from comic shop retailers.

While exploring the Transylvanian castle she's recently inherited, Vampirella discovers a strange old book of "Feary Tales" that seems oddly familiar. Upon opening it, she is sucked inside its pages and lands in a weird alternate reality, where she is compelled by a disembodied voice calling itself The Storyteller to live out each of the 'feary tales' if she ever hopes to return to reality.
Dynamite Entertainment proudly celebrates the 45th anniversary of horror hostess and comic book heroine Vampirella with the upcoming October release of Vampirella: Feary Tales #1, the first chapter in a collaborative miniseries event spearheaded by acclaimed novelist and ongoing Vampirella series writer, Nancy A. Collins. An anthology series held together by a unique, cohesive framework, Feary Tales will feature the creative talent of Gail Simone, Stephen R. Bissette, Elmo Eklabuz, Ronilson Freire, Devin Grayson, Jack Jadson, Joe R. Lansdale, Elaine Lee, Stuart Moore, Steve Niles, John Shirley, Denis St. John and Eric Trautmann.
"Seeing as this is the 45th anniversary of Vampirella's creation, Dynamite has decided to mark the occasion by taking her back to her roots," says writer Nancy A. Collins. "We've got some of the best writers in comics slated to deliver the short, sharp shocks that the Warren magazines were famous for. I am both excited and humbled that these incredibly talented creators have signed on to celebrate Vampirella's birthday."
Nancy A. Collins, the bestselling author renowned for her horror fiction in comics (Swamp Thing) and novels (Sunglasses After Dark, VAMPS), assembled a team of today's most accomplished writers to contribute "twisted tales, bizarre bedtime stories, and fearsome fables" in the tradition of the classic Warren Vampirella magazine publications. In Feary Tales, a dimensional rift traps Vampirella in an alternate dimension where an enigmatic Storyteller forces her to live out classic tales of terror and whimsy, providing the context for a wealth of creative interpretations of the beloved character.
"Today's comic book fans still recognize Vampirella, but many don't realize that she wasn't just a fanged and buxom adventuress," says author Nancy A. Collins. "Like her fellow Warren Publications horror hosts, Vampirella served as ‘ghostess with the mostest', lacing her introductions to the various stories that graced her black-and-white magazine with puns and double entendres."
Devin Grayson (comic book writer of Nightwing, Batman: Gotham Knights and Titans) and John Shirley (award-winning horror and science fiction author, and screenwriter for the 1994 cult classic film The Crow) join Collins on Vampirella: Feary Tales #1. In the debut issue, Vampirella is surprised to discover herself married to an infamous wife-killer in "Bluebeard's Blood" (penned by Grayson), and then finds herself both the belle and the bête of the ball in "Cinderella? Vampirella!" (by Shirley). Artists on issue #1 include Jack Jadson, Ronilson Freire, and Elmo Eklabuz.
Subsequent issues will include writers Gail Simone, Stephen R. Bisette and Denis St. John (issue #2); Elaine Lee and Joe R. Lansdale (#3); Stuart Moore and Eric Trautmann (#4); and Steve Niles (#5).
"We first started working with Nancy when she was a part of the Legends of Red Sonja series that Gail Simone oversaw with Joe Rybandt -- an incredible event celebrating Sonja's 40th Anniversary. When Nancy took over as the writer of the new Vampirella series, she asked if she could do the same Legends-style concept for Vampirella's 45th Anniversary. How could we say no? Nancy has brought her 'A' game, and has brought together an all-star line-up of writers to help celebrate the occasion. Feary Tales is an incredible series with fantastic writers, and the diversity of its creative voices will bring new audiences to our femme fatale," says Dynamite CEO/Publisher Nick Barrucci.
Dynamite will celebrate the new Vampirella: Feary Tales #1 with a variety of cover options, including a Main cover by Jay Anacleto (Warlord of Mars); Variant covers by Joe Jusko, Art Adams, and Fabiano Neves; and a "Warren Years Homage" Subscription cover by David Roach reserved for those hardcore fans who place preorders with their local comic retailers.

Ripley's Believe It or Not! Odditoriums are among the most popular attractions worldwide, yet most people don't know that it all started with a daily cartoon drawn by one man -- Robert Ripley.
Originally a sports cartoonist, Ripley developed "Believe It or Not!" in the 1920s. By the end of the decade, the series had become a phenomenal hit. In an era when few people traveled outside their own hometown, let alone out of the country, Ripley became a globetrotter, seeking stories of bizarre and unusual proportion to put in his internationally known feature. The cartoons were adapted into radio and television programs, and helped make Ripley the highest paid cartoonist in the world.
This series begins a chronological reprinting of Ripley’s famous daily cartoons in hardcover collections, reminding us that first and foremost Robert Ripley–explorer, radio, movie and television personality, entrepreneur, and museum impresario–was an astounding artist-cartoonist.
This first volume reprises cartoons from 1929 and 1930, when Ripley’s fame raised him from relative obscurity to international celebrity. Includes bonus and background material from Ripley’s impressive archives.

V-Wars is set in a world transformed by a global pandemic caused by a millennia-old virus that, once triggered, affects individuals differently depending on their DNA. The result is vampires as unique as their cultures, a response from unaffected humans like never before, and a story that is old-school, scary and complicated.
Springing from the mind of New York Times best-selling author, Jonathan Maberry, this collection begins a non-stop thrill ride of action, horror, and suspense!
“Jonathan Maberry creates the freshest vampire lore I've ever experienced.” -- Bree Ogden, Comics Bulletin
The first five issues of the runaway hit series, collected for the special low price of $9.99! If you’ve wanted to check out V-Wars, but missed the first couple sold out issues, here’s where to check it out, just in time for the second big story arc!
I read this trade in e-form, from a site that allows pro journalists the opportunity to do that. And I have to say, I was stunned ... by how boring it was!
I'm not sure I actually started on book one, page one -- it seemed to start in media res -- but I picked up on the gist quickly enough. And it's this: It's not a book about monsters (as the cover above would indicate), but is instead a civil rights metaphor. Yes, there are vampires, but it's genetic, and they're fighting for their constitutional rights. If that sounds like the efforts of gays to get civil rights ("it's genetic!"), pin a gold star on you.
I guess that could be an interesting story, but it simply isn't. It's boring. Its like Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, which was basically a NAFTA debate in sci-fi drag. Sure, geopolitics and international commerce probably can be interesting, but they sure weren't in how they were portrayed in Phantom Menace.
Anyway, in V-Wars, vampires are just like you and me, only with a genetic tweak that makes them a little more vampire-y than the rest of us. (But don't worry, they don't have to prey on us; there are plenty of alternatives which is how most of them deal with daily life.) And while the government is treating them harshly -- up to and including death squads -- they are clearly meant to be sympathetic figures, and even potential love interests for young, unprejudiced non-vamp teens. "We shall overcome ..."
That's not a vampire story. It's not even a horror story. It's a constitutional debate story, and not a very interesting one.

Creator/writer Joshua Williamson (NAILBITER, GHOSTED), artist Andrei Bressan and colorist Adriano Lucas present BIRTHRIGHT, a bold new fantasy adventure from Skybound/Image Comics, debuting this October.
What started as a game of catch in the park between father and son turned into a parent’s worst nightmare. For the Rhodes family, losing their son was the most devastating thing that could’ve ever occurred … but it couldn’t prepare them for what happened when he returned. Skybound’s newest original series will turn fantasy into reality in this oversized debut issue.
Williamson explained BIRTHRIGHT’s origin predates both his current hit horror series: "People have asked me if I get worried about being typecast. But I knew BIRTHRIGHT was coming. Even though it opens with what I think is one of the scariest things imaginable in real life ... it's a fantasy adventure book at heart. And one Skybound and I have been working on for a long time. Before GHOSTED even came out.
“As a fan of adventure and fantasy stories as a kid ... it was always great seeing these young kids going on amazing journeys to far way magical lands. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, Peter Pan, Explorers, The Neverending Story, Wizard of Oz, Flight of the Navigator. But there were never any real consequences to those adventures ... What happens when you come home from this great adventure? What do you do next? How do you go back to normal life?
“Those thoughts lead to my obsession with the idea of destiny. If your whole life has been about one moment ... one thing that you had to accomplish ... what do you do after it is over? How do you go on knowing that the main reason you were born is finished?
“That's what Birthright is about: what happens after the adventure.

Writer Jay Faerber (NEAR DEATH, DYNAMO 5), artist Scott Godlewski (Dracula: The Company of Monsters), colorist Ron Riley (NEAR DEATH, DYNAMO 5), and letterer/designer Thomas Mauer (UNDERTOW, UMBRAL) have won the hearts of readers with their new science fiction western series COPPERHEAD. Issue #1 has sold out completely and is being fast-tracked to a second printing to meet customer demand.
"Scott, Ron, Thomas and I are blown away by the response Copperhead's gotten,” said Faerber. “We've been having a ton of fun in the mining town of Copperhead, and we're thrilled people are responding to it. The ride is just beginning!"
In COPPERHEAD #1 readers meet Clara Bronson, a single mother who takes the position as new sheriff in Copperhead, a small mining town on a distant planet. But while Clara might seem like an ordinary lady in all respects, she has one or two secrets she’s hiding… and secrets don’t last long in a small town like Copperhead.
Set in the 24th century and featuring Western archetypes through a sci-fi lens, COPPERHEAD is a fresh new series that Faerber described as “Deadwood meets Firefly.”

GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS#1 (2ND PTG)
"Sold out? Are you serious?” said Browne. “I know my mom bought a couple of copies but you guys must really love your God Hates Astronauts! Wait'll you see what other awesomely stupid things I plan to force you to look at in issue two!"
In GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS, a NASA-funded group of arrogant "super people" must stop a rash of farmers that have been using rocket-powered silos to launch themselves into outer space. As these Astro-Farmers fire themselves all over the galaxy, NASA must utilize their every resource (a guy with a ghost-cow head, a bunch of magic bears, and a Chicago cop with robot arms) to avoid an intergalactic incident.
Praise for GOD HATES ASTRONAUTS:
“There's not a lot more I can say about God Hates Astronauts as a whole. It's funny, it's crass, it's absurd, it manages to pack more gut-busting laughs into a 30 page comic than some do in an entire series… While, yes, this is still the farce that you know and love, there is the beginnings of a genuine and more earnest story being told here, and this first issue is an excellent hook for both new readers and old. If you're looking for a comic to have you crying with laughter, look no further than God Hates Astronauts.” -- David Henderson, Multiversity Comics
“Browne is carving out a unique space for himself with this series. There isn't really anything exactly like it on the stands and that's exactly what we all look for in comics, right? God Hates Astronauts #1 the most fun book of the week.” -- Matt Little, Comic Book Resources
“If you've ever found yourself thinking, ‘Man, I sure wish there were some comic out there that flawlessly combined talking animal alien space warriors, astro farmers, true romance, and bestiality.’ I have some very good news for you: God Hates Astronauts has arrived.” -- Tres Dean, IGN
“It will make you laugh a lot. You may need a change of pants. I don't know, but it's probably a good idea to get an extra pair out before reading it just in case. Pants wetting aside, God Hates Astronauts is one of the hilarious and most fun comics on the stands. If you're just looking to have a good time, then you've found the right book.” -- Chase Magnett, ComicBook.com

Better than sex? That’s the party line that super heroic Imperial is towing for his protege hero-in-training, Mark. But even if it is better, does that mean Mark is willing to give it up—along with a lot of other human trappings? And what is the unholy menace that men call "Pancho Sarape?" Well, actually, he’s just a bad wedding DJ, but some things aren’t worth fighting over, right?
I haven't read the book, so I'm talking out of turn, but once cliche I've grown tired of is the teen or twentysomething slacker who turns out to be the key figure in some ancient mythology/war/power struggle. From Jim Lee's Divine Right to Keanu Reeves in the Matrix movies to Kyle Rayner in 1994 Green Lantern, to Luke Skywalker in Star Wars to Eddie Murphy in The Golden Child, to ... aw, heck, you can reel them off as well as I can.
And, while the lead character here isn't referred to as "The Chosen One" or anything (as far as I know), the only reason there is a debate going on here is that he is resisting becoming the next Imperial. So why doesn't Imperial simply choose a different successor? Oh, I'm sure there's a reason presented in the book, but just looking at the previews I've decided that I don't believe it.
I mean, seriously: There's got to be someone else on earth who is A) more willing and B) more able to become the next Imperial than the indecisive, spineless wimp above.

Dog, Skull, Fist and Abe Lincoln live in a house, beat the #### out of each other, and frequently humiliate themselves. There is bleeding and sadness; Morrissey would likely approve.
The cult hit comedy returns with new stories and a bonus classic in the back of the issue in PUNKS: THE COMIC #1. From Eisner and Harvey award nominees Joshua Hale Fialkov (The Bunker, The Ultimates) and Kody Chamberlain (SWEETS, The Ride) comes the latest dose of irreverent, fun-loving hilarity that fans have been waiting for.
"Returning to both the world of Punks and Image is like a warm, slimey sock,” said Fialkov, before pausing to rethink the comparison. “No. That's a terrible analogy. It's like a pungent pair of goiters. No. This isn't going well. Um ... Getting to make new Punks for a whole new audience is a dream come true. And not one of those weird dreams with too much massaging."
“Exactly 10 years ago, Josh and I took an obscure political figure named Abraham Lincoln and thrust him into the mainstream of American pop culture with the very first issue of Punks,” said Chamberlain. “As usual, Hollywood wanted a piece of this newly unearthed ‘hero’ and Abe quickly found himself immersed in a whirlwind of feature film projects and various promotional opportunities.”
Chamberlain continued, “Let me be absolutely clear, I don't think what Abe did could be considered 'selling out', in fact, I’m genuinely thrilled for the success and popularity he's found as a result of our well-made comics. Still, as a fan of his early work I couldn’t be more excited about this new attempt to revive his failed comic book career.”
Image Comics is pleased to reveal a very special variant cover by New York Times bestselling artist Rob Guillory (CHEW) for the first issue of PUNKS: THE COMIC.
I can't tell what this is about, but I do usually like Joshua Hale Fialkov's work.

Across the globe, century after century, men and women were burned, drowned, hanged, tortured, imprisoned, persecuted and murdered for witchcraft. None of them were witches. They died protecting a terrible and hidden truth: witches, real witches, are out there. They are ancient, elusive and deadly creatures that are rarely seen and even more rarely survived. Superstar creators SCOTT SNYDER (SEVERED, Batman) and JOCK (SNAPSHOT, Batman) unveil WYTCHES, and introduce you to a world of unimaginable horror in a special EXTRA-SIZED FIRST ISSUE with 30 pages of story and no ads for just $2.99
WYTCHES takes the mythology of witches to a far creepier, bone-chilling place than readers have dared venture before. “I like taking classic monsters and reimagining them in a fresh, contemporary, and much scarier way,” said Snyder.
Snyder and Jock have worked together previously on the Batman story “The Black Mirror” in the pages of Detective Comics and Snyder knew from the get-go that he wanted Jock on board.
“It’s great to finally have Scott Snyder back at Image,” said Image Comics Publisher Eric Stephenson. “We loved working with Scott on SEVERED, and he has only gotten better since then, so it’s really wonderful that he’s teaming up with Jock on what is without a doubt one of the creepiest books we have ever published.”
Scott Snyder says, "We couldn’t be more excited to have this series sit on the shelves with other great Image Books like Lazarus, Manhattan Projects, Southern Bastards and of course The Walking Dead. Forget everything you think you know about witches."

ACT I: THE RED SUPREMACY
• The Red Skull has exploited the gifts of the world’s greatest telepath to broadcast pure hatred across the globe. Now, born of the murder of Charles Xavier, World War Hate has begun.
• Tony Stark discovers a secret truth that will upend not only his life, but also the lives of everyone he cares for.
• Can The Avengers and X-Men finally unite? Would their combined strength be enough to hold back the darkness of the Red Onslaught?
• Magneto murdered the wrong man, releasing the greatest evil the Marvel Universe has ever known. Now Rogue and Scarlet Witch are all that stand in its way.
The Marvel Universe prepares for the biggest battle it’s ever faced: Avengers & X-Men: AXIS! AXIS, the nine part blockbuster comic event of the fall, brought to you by the chart-topping creative team of Rick Remender, Adam Kubert, Leinil Yu, Terry Dodson and Jim Cheung, will take fans across the globe as the Avengers and the X-Men must band together to stop the destruction caused by one of the greatest villains in the Marvel Universe!
From the ashes of the once proud mutant haven Genosha, an evil power rises. Exploiting the limitless gifts of the world’s greatest telepath Charles Xavier, the Red Skull has enslaved thousands, amassed an army and now broadcasts his message of hate across the world. Channeling the unstoppable force known as Onslaught, the Red Skull’s ruthless and unparalleled evil now wields a destructive power unmatched by even the most powerful heroes.
“This is the big one,” says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. “Super hero comics at their biggest and boldest. With the powers of Charles Xavier, the Red Skull is the biggest, baddest villain in the Marvel Universe. Rick’s story is massive and will touch all corners of the Marvel Universe in new and interesting ways.”
The fractured teams of Avengers and X-Men are now all that stands in the way of total obliteration. Earth’s last hope now hinges on the fragile alliance of these two estranged teams. In the shadows of the Red Supremacy, can they fight as one? Even united, they may not be enough to stem the coming darkness. And if they fall, all hope is lost.
