Coming Comics

Publishing details for these books will be announced in the coming months.

Yes, but where? -- Jeff of Earth-J, on my weekly Comics Guide.

Well, maybe here. Or not. I don't know yet.

I've created a new Forum called "Coming Comics." I plan to start posting PR there. I hope to move the "Coming Collections" there. And what I REALLY hope is to make it a repostiory of information where it's easy for you guys to look at a given month two or three months in the future, and say "that's pretty close to Previews. I'll see what I might want to order."

Which means I have to organize it right. That work will be on me. But I haven't the faintest idea of how to do that with the clumsy tools I have at my disposal.

So what I've done is posted three press releases, one for December, one for January and one for February. I'll add three more tomorrow and see what happens. Do I need to change the lead headline? Do I need to remove the lead press release and just have something generic there ... and STILL change the headline? Do I need to swap out whatever's in the lead spot with whatever's new? I DON'T KNOW.

And it's not for me. It's for you. So I'll tinker as my whims take me over the next few days and weeks, but PLEASE you guys make suggestions as to how this will be useful to you. Go play with the new Forum. Post stuff. Delete stuff. Take the time that I don't have to play with the structure. Maybe it's the greatest thing since the Silver Age. Maybe it's unworkable extra baggage that I should just delete. LET ME KNOW.

My major concern is to not eat up the the front page with a bunch of PR posts. The last time I did that, probably 20 years ago, you guys HATED it. So I'll post in batches, or in whatever other way suggests itself to me to avoid the thing you guys seem to hate the most. Somehow I'll probably post everything from all publishers in a given month on a single post, to make it useful. But I'll have to do it in batches, and somehow indicate new stuff in the headlne that shows on the front. Hrm and Hrm.

But help me help you by posting in a way that works for your needs. Right now I have dozens of December and January press releases, some of them pretty big time about the Big Two. And I ALWAYS get super-important press releases from all the main pubishers just before the monthly solicitations come out, which I want to post immediamente. (Right now I'm getting cool stuff for February. Dark Horse is already out to September, but they're an outlier.) For decades I've been saving the PR until week-of-shipment in the Comics Guide. It was a lot of work. But there's no reason to do that any more, because week-of is too late to order. So tell me how you want this stuff to be posted.

That is all. Return to your regularly scheduled lives.
