  • I must confess that Mister Sinister is still the X-Men foe that I understand the least. What's his deal? Why is he connected to the Summer Brothers? And why does he look like Colossus from the Mirror Universe?
  • I'm with you. Every time he appears I secretly hope he'll get killed, so I don't have to figure him out.
  • Thanks, Cap! I thought I was just dense or something! Mister Sinister belongs to that era of mega-X-foes like Apocolypse, Stryfe and the Goblin Queen that never appealed to me. Especially Apocky's ugly face trying to look evil and trying to hide that he's a Transformer!
  • Comics in those days were long on *koff* image and short on story.
  • Please! I recall an arguement that I had with a younger co-worker about McFarlane's first two Spider-Man arcs. Five part "stories" that probably could have been solid two-parters, if that. But we can't let dialogue get in the way of full page pin-ups!

When I saw that first image, I thought: It's the return of Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom!

When artists learned that full-page splashes brought more money in the original art market, it was no surprise they did more of the same. And, yes, the stories suffered.

  • That got me thinking: Has Cyclops ever worn another color except for blue and yellow? I know his X-Factor outfit was blue and white but has he stuck to blue his entire career?

  • Unless you count "Erik the Red" he's pretty much always been in blue (and gold, although occasionally white, as you noted). There was a brief period where his suit lost the blue highlights and appeared black, around Uncanny X-Men #391:
