DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE #1 is coming November 25th—and DC's kicking it off big by revealing the first of several retail variant covers available at your local comics retailer!

With art by Dave Johnson, based on a sketch by Jim Lee, this take on the iconic DARK KNIGHT RETURNS finale features your local comic shop store logo placed near the top.

Did your local comic book retailer order a unique DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE #1 variant cover? They’ll hit shelves on November 25th along with the standard covers, but supplies will be limited.

Participating retailers have the opportunity for an artist to design and illustrate a cover exclusively for their store, and the list of retailers and artists is growing by the day! We’re excited to reveal the artwork from the first two covers, with more to come in the weeks ahead.

Frank Miller has inspired artists and storytellers in the industry for generations. Paying tribute to 1986's BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS, Jae Lee designed Custom Retailer Variant cover art for Dynamic Forces (Dynamic Forces), and Sean Murphy designed Custom Retailer Variant cover art for Rebel Base Comics & Toys (Rebel Base Comics & Toys) in Charlotte, NC.

DC ENTERTAINMENT REVEALS DAVE GIBBONS VARIANT COVER IMAGE FOR DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE

Another Comics Heavyweight Gives His Unique Take on the Final Chapter of Frank Miller’s Epic DARK KNIGHT Trilogy

 

DARK KNIGHT III: THE MASTER RACE is heading to local comics retailers everywhere on 11/25, and in addition to the fantastic array of retailer-specific variant covers available, DC Entertainment is revealing the first of several “standard” variant covers for the series! This 1 in 50 variant cover is rendered by Dave Gibbons of WATCHMEN fame, and features an iconic pose of both Batman and Robin (Carrie Kelly) bounding across the rooftops of Gotham City.
