Earth 2, 21

I sometimes wonder if any comic book world with superheroes has ever had a competent government. The world government of Earth 2 locked up the people who could helped it prepare for this latest crisis and harassed and tried to lock up others and it's army was just wiped out. Kind of reminds me of the Council of the Twelve in Battlestar Galactica. Body count's pretty high on this one, with Atom if not down at least seriously maimed and a bunch of 1% rich people getting killed (in a theme I find common over the past few months in a lot of the media, everyone should dislike the rich). The world armies fall back place was Amazonia and I'm wondering if the Amazon's were given as much choice as the Atlanteans. When Commander Kahn calls on the Atlantean's Aquawoman has deposed the world governments puppet ruler and she's in no mood to talk with him. Can't say as I blame her since they put in prison. If the world itself weren't in jeapardy I'd be entirely comfortable with her telling Khan to go to hell. But it is and the small group in the Batcave might have a way to stop this new Superman, meantime Mr. Miracle and a few brainwashed men are trying to move Earth into orbit around Apokolypse and there is a young kryptonian (that the world government also locked up, so he has no way to really fight Superman) that Superman himself has finally become aware of. It's a bit of trainwreck of a world that's on the brink of destruction. Sort of like watching one of the Titanic movies.
