It occurs to me that all the angst and drama between the students is just the recycled idea of a training school for gifted young people that fueled the first X-men series.

Or is Avengers Academy substanially different?  They're all teens....  with problems... and the instructors...and great powers... and a conflicting group of individuals.

X-men First class.....the New Mutants...Avengers Academy.... is it all the same book?

  • I thought the operation of Avengers Academy was secret from the public.  At least it was, until Lightening boy leaked it to the press for favorable PR in one issue...
  • The one major similarity between the Original X-Men, New Mutants, the young heroes of the Initiative and Avengers Academy is that none of the characters involved has/had "Solo Star" potential. As a group, they are interesting and even important but individually they have little appeal or potential.
  • That's an interesting perspective, considering that Cyclops has not only been featured with Jean Grey in a mini-series, he's know leading a resistance movement, he was the prime antagonist in the recent AvsX maxi series, and now, there's TWO of him running around in the All-New X-men ongoing series!
