KEVIN KELLER nabs a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Comic
Award season is officially underway and, not surprisingly, the bestselling Kevin Keller mini-series picked up the first nomination for Archie Comics this year. Kevin was selected in the category for Outstanding Comic Book for the GLAAD Media Awards, his second consecutive nomination in this category two years running. Last year, Kevin only had one appearance to his name at the time for his sold out debut issue, but now with a four-issue mini-series under his belt, his chances of winning are looking very promising.
This very exciting honor is bookended by the Life with Archie issue earlier this month featuring Kevin’s wedding followed by the premiere of Kevin’s ongoing series in early February. Having foreseen 2012 as being the year of Kevin doesn’t seem too far off base now and if Kevin were to win this go-round, it would only validate this prediction further.
Kevin has already proven to be a popular addition to the Archie cast of characters with instant acceptance within the community of Riverdale as well as Archie’s fan base. His star power has seen him transition from “hot new guy” supporting player to Class President of Riverdale High leading man! Kevin is only one of a handful of characters to earn his own on-going series and have a featured wedding issue dedicated to him. If that’s not enough reason for the general population to take notice, a GLAAD Media Award should do the trick.
