Bianchi, Irving, Simonson, Waid. Marvel are doing a lot of stuff right these days. Gotta hand it to 'em.
Actually , looking at the April solicits, you got Butch Guice, Allred, Hitch, Davis, Sienkewicz, Klaus Jansen.
Putting aside the fact that they are all such individual stylists, that's a list of some of the most highly respectded names critically, going back several decades. On the face of it, there's a respect for the history of superhero books there, too. It's quite a contrast to DC's dependence on their brands over established talent.
It probably helps that Waid's Daredevil is such a critical and commercial success.
How about that: Quality content beating gimmicks. Whodathunk?
It's almost as if Marvel were aiming for the exact weak spot in DC's current publishing model - that their treatment of creators as a lesser factor than the brands is scaring off established talent. Its as if Marvel is trying to highlight their faults.
If DC were leading the field, even by as narrow a margin as Marvel usually leads them, it wouldn't matter. But to be consistently presenting themselves as the least creator-friendly publisher, and the least interested in long-term quality and still be trailing, that's a terrible look.
