I remember seeing short films at cons, basically fan fic parodies (Hardware Wars, Bambi versus Godzilla), done with traditional animation, but I realized this morning that fanfic has gone past traditional fanzine writing and even gone past net writing like fanfic.com, it's moving into the animation world in a big way.

What ever else youtube has done it has given a lot of young animators a place to showcase. Even ten years ago the animation software wasn't there and now it is.
