I was amazed to find a notebook from my grade school days and on its back pages were notes about a Teen Titans story that I was writing when I was eleven or twelve. It had the mid-70s Titans fighting a group of lesser foes of their mentors including Whirlicane, the Golden Man, Signal Man, Chac, Hypnota the Great, Captain Demo, Sivana Jr, Radiation Roy and Felix Faust (as the leader). The line-up may be strange but the Titans in my tale were the standard Robin-Kid Flash-Aqualad-Wonder Girl-Speedy plus Mal as the new Guardian, Bumblebee and the Joker's Daughter/Harlequin.
But I included from the Teen Titans West sub-group, Beast Boy because I liked his powers and his Spock-like role on the TV show he was on and the Golden Eagle because I liked his intro in Justice League #116 and it gave the team a real flyer.
But I also added Captain Marvel Junior which wasn't too much as a stretch with his powers and the Rock of Eternity and it gave the team a very major player. But I also included from the 30th century's Legion of Substitute Heroes (?) Chlorophyll Kid and Stone Boy!! Why? Beats me! Maybe because Mike Grell gave them new cooler outfits around that time. Maybe I was boosting their powers because I had Stone Boy moving!
But the kicker was the arrival of, from time/space and comic companies, TORO, the original Human Torch's sidekick, as a teenager, even though at that moment he was dead! There was something primal and dangerous as a flaming kid with an attitude as seen in The Invaders. With him, Cap Jr and and a mobile Stone Boy, the Titans became a more stronger team than just the JLA's trainees!
Of course, such a grouping was impossible and implausible and downright illegal but it was fun to dream about!
Now if I could only find the Metal Men story I wrote and drew (badly) that I did hand in!
