"Reminiscent of the majestic but reality-based imagery of Hal Foster’s “Prince Valiant” comic strip.” -- Geoff Boucher, The LA Times

"Nevsky: A Hero of the People is a superb graphic novel with great writing and exceptional artwork. The fact that it portrays an actual historical story gives the piece further resonance." -- Silverwolf's Den

"It's a good book...one which I can see a wide variety of people appreciating for a variety of different reasons." -- Sean Kleefield

The graphic novel is a story of heroism and daring as the young Russian commander Alexander Nevsky must defend his country against the far better armed Teutonic Knights. As well as being an exciting, visually stunning tale in the spirit of Frank Miller’s 300, NEVSKY, is also notable as the adaptation of a beloved piece of filmmaking: the iconic genius of Sergei Eisenstein’s classic Russian film, Alexander Nevsky—the first time Mosfilm has allowed one to be adapted into a graphic novel. A foreword by Howard Chaykin and historical notes by Steve Saffel round out a book that brings history and real life heroism alive as only  the comics medium can.
