This book stars "G.I. Zombie," which alone caused me a wry smile -- back in the long-ago time, it was G.I. Robot in World War II. Time -- and fads -- change.
Anyway, this zombie isn't in combat at all -- he appears to be involved in a modern-day Homeland Security operation on U.S. soil against home-grown terrorists of the white supremacist ilk. Which, despite the bait-and-switch -- wait, where's World War II? Where are the Army fatigues I saw on the cover? -- I quite enjoyed. This book was top-notch from top to bottom, from Justin Gray & Jimmy Palmiotti's masterful handling of concept, story and dialog, to the surprisingly muscular art of Scott Hampton.
First issues are hard to do, but this gang not only makes it look easy, they make it irresistible. Get this book!

I liked this too. I think I may wait until the first trade comes out to read further, though. I know that's counterproductive as far as sales go, though. I really liked the John Bolton artwork. And Palmiotti and Gray are awesome as always. Interesting little story.
